really enjoyed the entire theatrical experience the new Blu provides. liked it better than the individual experiences and would have loved it that much more if i was able to catch it originally.

Planet Terror is still a lot of fun. Death Proof is still the worst movie I have ever seen. I would rather sit through 24 hour Lifetime Channel and Syfy movie marathons than ever have to see Death Proof again.

I can handle Death Proof in the Grindhouse version but the Extended cut is kinda hard to sit through. It gets boring

Re: "Grindhouse" reviews thread.
damn...I love Death Proof in whatever form. IF the two films were just separate theatrical films. I'd prefer DP in it's extended cut. As Grindhouse, I prefer it's theatrical form.
Grindhouse to me was the best experience I have ever had. ESPECIALLY once Machete popped up, I couldn't shut the fuck up out of excitement. I was literally the only Mexican guy in the theater of...less than 10 people. All I could was just laugh and talk excitedly when the Machete trailer was playing. After that it was just me nerding out in the best way. Best time at the movies I've ever had.

Death Proof was better than planet terror. At first in theatres I didnt think so but at home on blu-ray it was alot better that PT.

FWIW most of my friends agree with you...they hate Death Proof.
For some reason it resonates with me.

I thought Death Proof was a very solid deconstruction of slasher movies
Too good really to be considered Grindhouse but very good in its own right.

I remember liking Planet Terror well enough at the theaters, but I've had no desire to see it since.

I still think this movie would have fared better theatrically had they not released it on Easter weekend of 2007. They definitely had an audience in mind and made it for them. Problem is, if you release something for a niche crowd of geeks and college kids on a family holiday weekend, they will do the family thing. Any other weekend they would have been shoo-ins to see Grindhouse.
That said, I saw the movie opening night (went home on Saturday) and loved every dang minute. First time I felt like something had been made for me specifically. (Just in a stylistic sense, Death Proof really had me thinking I was going to fall asleep after Mike killed the first batch.)

I still remember seeing this in theaters the second week it was out which ended up being the last week since it left that Friday. It was my ex and myself with another couple and they left about halfway through Planet Terror. I remember having to get up and use the restroom during the fake trailers in the middle so I missed out on Thanksgiving.
Still a very memorable theater going experience. I haven't revisited the films since then and honestly feel no need to. Planet Terror was pretty good but I was nearly bored to tears by Death Proof.

In keeping with the tradition of watching horror movies during the month of October - I finally opened my Blu-ray of the theatrical Grindhouse experience........sadly and unbelievably....I didn't like it.
I much prefer the extended cut of Death Proof (not sure if much is missing from Planet Terror). I know a lot of people didn't like it but I like many others think it is underrated and there are scenes (not just the lap dance) that this movie just can't live without - one of the classics being the close up dark shot where you can't see Stuntman Mike's face while he is sitting in his car stalking....that is like an iconic image to me as it's a hardcore throwback to the types of films it's imitating.
Yes, I dug the fake trailers but they were just short clips and don't warrant the hype IMO. It was cool to see the full experience but I now see why so many really hated Death Proof in this version - they even cut the entire scenes where
There is even some good music that is cut as well. Maybe it's just me but everything that was cut for Death Proof takes all the steam out of it - it has to be viewed in the extended cut for me and I now see why it was released (the extended cut) separately.

I really like Death Proof..either cut. Though the extended is extended awesomeness for me. I will disagree that Grindhouse doesn't live up to the awesomeness. I think you're confusing on what people dislike about DP (tee hee..DP). Bitches talk a lot, which I don't mind..I love it, and there's not enough of killing. But mostly people bitch about the bitches talking a shit ton.
The end of DP (tee hee) is fucking amazing to me. I've never seen car chase in my lifetime in a cinema that's just..the fucking cars and no bs wild editing and cgi to pretty it up. No..all in the fucking camera. That alone is worth the movie. Not too mention it's awesome seeing Zoe Bell do that shit. Not enough badass women in our times....Zoe Bell is awesomer for being a real stunt woman too.

Na, It did live up to the hype...(I mean how can I seriously bitch anyway...when the fuck will we ever see something like that again....well...hopefully soon) I was just so fucking distracted with the missing scenes from Death Proof...it was jarring as all hell too.
Yes, most of what I admire about Death Proof in it's second half are the car chase scenes and how they were shot - just fucking awesome. Zoe Bell rocks it too.

I think part of the magic of GH is lost on home video. This was an experience meant to be seen on the big screen with an audience. It was one of the greatest times i had in a movie theater.
