Only the Hollywood Foreign Press would nominate Bobby for best picture.

Borat, Little Miss Sunshine, Sacha Baron Cohen, Will Ferrel, Mark Wahlberg, Rinko Kikuchi

Bobby (It just wasn't that good.)

I hope Borat and The Departed win everything they were nominated for. I still can't believe Borat got even one nomination let alone two.

Kazakhstan, greatest country in the world, all other countries are run by little girls. Kazakhstan is number one exporter of potassium, Other Central Asian countries have inferior potassium. Kazakhstan, greatest country in the world, all other countries is run by the gays...

Weird rules. Iwo Jima isn't elegible for Best Picture since it's foreign language, same applies to Apocalypto.

Yeah, once again the GG's throw out some rather odd choices. Chiwetel Ejiofor for "Kinky Boots" (miscast actor in a terrible film that nobody saw) and Beyonce for "Dreamgirls" (has ANYONE said anything about her performance in one review you've read???). Back to Chiwetel. Brilliant actor. Just so not right for that role. And was kind of painful to watch.

Very surprised that Djimon Hounson didn't receive a Supporting Actor Nod. I think he's won a couple of critic's awards for Blood Diamond.

A very acceptable list of Nominations this year for the most part..
Nice to see some love for Babel, Departed, Borat, Thank You For Smoking, Sacha Cohen, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kate Winslet, and I am very happy to see Rinko Kikuchi get nominated for her wonderful performance in Babel. Overall I am rather happy with the nominations but a few complaints and questions.
1. Why is Johnny Depp nominated for Best Actor in a musical or Comedy?....The Pirates 2 that i saw was neither a musical nor a comedy so I can't justify the categorization of this particular performance which I enjoyed but dont think it is necessarily nomination worthy.
2. Sad to see no love for V for Vendetta, Inside Man, and the Fountain (except for the score Nom. for this one)
3. I love Eastwood but 2 nominations for Director...Flags was very mediocre at best and certainly was not nomination worthy.
4. Chiwetel Ejiofor for Kinky Boots (Why?) They obviously were taking whatever they could find this year in this category.
5.Annette Bening for Running with Scissors (Horrible film and an annoying performance that had me grinding me teeth at how bad both were)
6.Will Smith for The Pursuit of Happyness (I never thought I'd say it but i wish Will Smith would go back to making "quality" films with alliens and/or martin Lawrence.
7. Also some lists are placing Patrick Wilson in the bast Actor category for Little Children and omitting Forest Whitaker for Last King Of Scotland...Surely Whitaker got nominated so this is a mistake right?

That is weird, especially since the Golden Globes are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press!

That's great that Mark Wahlberg got nominated. He was great comic relief and perfect in the role.

I think the rules for Foreign film should mean just that - no US or Hollywood input, a product that is exclusively "foreign"

'Iwo Jima' got included because of Clint Eastwood's name alone.

Sucks that Leo is goings up against himself, but then again that's a huge compliment to how far he's come. I'm pretty sure this means votes will be split over him and the Lead Actor award will go to Forrest Whitaker. But I'm hoping for Scorsese, The Departed, and LOST to come away winners.

Seems like a pretty weak field this year, IMO. I haven't seen a few of them yet, so I could be wrong. Looks like Departed is a shoe-in for best picture and Forest for best actor. I wish Catherine O'hare was up for Comedy.

There are no awards for foreign films - only for foreign language films.

As for Iwo Jima I haven't seen it yet, so I have no idea if I'd think it's a good movie or not - but it has been winning critics awards (LA and somewhere else) as Best Picture.

yah, but as much as I'm sure Leo would like to win the Globe for either film, his real sights are on Oscar.

Bobby gets a Best Picture nomination over United 93? Are you fucking kidding me? yet another reason why I hate the Golden Globes and the Hollywood Foreign Press.

Even with New Line fucking up its handling of Little Children, it seems to be gaining some ground.

Agreed. But my guess is that piracy will still be blamed for crap numbers, overall.

Yeah. And "World Trade Center", "The Illusionist" (also NOTHING for Norton or Giamatti in the acting categories) and "The Prestige".

Fucking "Bobby" indeed.

Will Sharon Stone be there to present again this year? Acting like the fool that she is everytime she's on there.
