Since Ennio Morricone is recieving the Honorary Award, can I watch bunches & bunches of his scored-movies?

I guess so, I don't see why not. An honorary Oscar is still an Oscar.

I can't wait to start this challenge. So, is there another challenge on the back burner after this one is done?

I got nothing else after this one that I can think of.

I think some people were wanting to do a Sci-Fi one.

I think a sci-fi challenge could be fun, especially if TV shows counted, like they did for the recent holiday challenge. I'm not really a big sci-fi fan, so I don't have a lot of movies that would qualify, but if episodes of The X-Files and The Twilight Zone counted, I'd be able to participate a lot more.

Also, someone suggested a comedy challenge a while back. I remember because I suggested we have it in April, in honor of April Fool's Day.

I think a foreign movie challenge could be fun and it would make more people aware of great foreign cinema.

I wouldn't be interested in a sci-fi challenge.

I've seen most of the sci fi movies out there.
I'm not interested in foreign films if it means I have to get off my butt and rent a bunch of movies to read. Sorry, I just can't stand subtitles. I start to go crosseyed after a while.

Personally, I wouldn't be interested in a foreign movie challenge, since I only have one, with no plans to buy any more. Not much of a challenge there!

i think a foreign movie challenge is a great idea. we could expose each other to many movies that we would otherwise never have heard of.

Well, a foreign movie challenge would help me in my attempts to get through my unwatched DVD pile...

I think I'm done with movie challenges after this one. I love doing them, but I need to wait a few months before I do another one. Three challenges back to back to back like this is quite a lot, but I only have myself to blame (at least for this one and the holiday movie challenge)

Enough time's gone by for me to recover from the Halloween one. I'm all up for this challenge. However, a bunch of "Oscar" titles in my collection often go into the 3-hour range. This might limit me from reaching 100, but we'll see.

You'd probably be surprised to find out just how many movies have been nominated for Oscars. The list is far more inclusive than people realize.

A Noir month would be great. Or a month for each decade, starting with the 1920s.

Question: Do the Oscar specials on TV count? Or is this just for movies?

Just browed through my Dish Guide for January and yup, there really is a ton of stuff to choose from. There's about at least 5 nominated (Or winning) movies that play on the movie-networks everyday. I'll be fine

I second that for the comedy challenge for April. Just gotta come up with what does and what doesn't count.

I do different themes every month on my own anyways. I have so many movies that it helps make me rewatch some that I may have forgotten about. I can honestly say that I love every genre of movie equally. This month I am watching romantic movies, in honor of Valentine's Day next month. February is now Academy Awards month (So that is why I made January romance month) March, I will watch my sports movies in honor of March Madness, baseball about to begin a new season, and football just recently over. April would be great for comedies in honor of April Fools Day. I don't set goals of how many I must watch because for me that takes the fun out of it. I try to watch at least 2 movies a day though.

I've set up tags in Profiler so I'm all set. Question: does listening to the commentaries count as "watching?"

It does, as long as you're watching the film at the same time. You can't just have it on in the background while you're doing something else. Also, I think you can only watch each movie once, with or without the commentary, but that may differ here.

I don't see why the Oscar TV specials would count, as they obviously could not be nominated for Oscars. Now, if there is an Emmys challenge, they might be eligible. Again, though, it's not my challege so it's up to The Monkees.
