Fred Claus . Xmas 2007 Giamatti as Santa with an All Star Cast

From the director of Wedding Crashers. Starring Vince Vaugn and Paul Giamatti. IMDB shows Kathy Bates, judi Dench, Kevin Spacey, Ludacris, etc. I'm sure its a lot of cameos, but just wanted to share.

I hope this will be good. It's been a while since Spacey's been in a comedy (hope he has a big part), as his last X-Mas flick (The Ref) I thought should be considered a Christmas classic.

It definitely looks good, but I had to take issue with it tacked on to Happy Feet at my theater. There were already 7-8 previews and they couldn't just hold this one for, oh I don't know, Fall '07? Kids are antsy to begin with, then making them sit through unneeded previews is terrible.

I recently saw the teaser and loved it. Next Christmas can't come soon enough.

I saw the trailer today. So painful. The opposite of funny.

Vince Vaughn has jumped the shark.

The trailer was not all that appealing to me, and I am not a big fan of Giamatti and him as Santa just does not work for me, but I am holding out hope...it could be better than expected. We will see...

Glad I'm not the only one. I saw the trailer and thought to myself what in the world was Vince Vaughn thinking?

Based on the trailers, the movie doesn't look funny at all. I like Paul Giamatti, but that won't be enough to get me to watch.

Trailer made this look like cookie-cutter shit, so naturally audiences will flock to it. No pun there, btw. I usually like Vaughn and Giamatti is always awesome, but this looks so formulaic and cliched that just about anyone on here can predict exactly what will happen.

BLS: Based on what movies it was put in front (The Simpsons, Happy Feet), it will definitely be a PG movie, possibly PG-13 (although I doubt it). I guess the plan is to make it family friendly enough for families and have enough Vince Vaughn & others to bring in people who didn't see Christmas with the Kranks or Santa Clause 5.

This is the movie I accientally walked though the set of trying to get to work last December and got yelled at by some douchebag P.A. You can't fucking close down half of a major street at 9am on a Monday.

Saw this today. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't all that great, either. Elf (inevitable comparison) was much funnier.

A few thoughts:
-Some of the elves creeped me out (the ones that had "normal" actors' heads superimposed on little bodies).
-Paul Giamatti's fat hands also creeped me out.
-The scene with all of the cameos was kind of cute.
-I think I discovered that I have a new fetish: women dressed in sexy Santa suits. Or maybe it was just Elizabeth Banks.

I doubt I'll see this any time soon, but I've heard that scene is pretty funny. Could you spoilerize who's in it?

Spoiler:
It was a "Brothers Anonymous" (or something like that) meeting: Frank Stallone, Roger Clinton, Stephen Baldwin

At one point, Fred Claus makes everyone mad, Stephen goes to hit him, but is restrained. The group leader says to him, "Keep repeating to yourself: He's not Alec. He's not Alec."

At 2 hours long, it's about 20 minutes too long. The film flounders a while in the opening act, is pretty long-winded in the 2nd act, but it almost redeems itself in the 3rd act with a scene loaded with cameos, and Kevin Spacey like you'd never think you'd ever see him given his recent film work. The special effects stuck out like a sore thumb (popping normal-sized actor's faces on elf-statured actors, and the flying sleigh sequences). I didn't feel too much brotherly chemistry between Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti (the hand prostetics were a little too much, very distracting).

I give it 2 stars, or a grade of C (for Claus)
