A quick search of Pixar on the IMDB brings up this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382932/

there was a thread floating around here that said Brad Bird delayed directing The Incredibles 2 so he could direct Ratatouille I'm hoping he and pixar will get to work on I2 next.

If Cars does as badly as the naysayers are predicting, it will be "would you like fries with that?"
j/k
Even though I'm cautiously optimistic for Cars, I realize that everyone must have a clunker occasionally but I'm sure they'll recover if doesn't deliver.

Of course they will recover. Most people won't even bat an eye because they have had so many hits, one average(doubt it will totally fail) film will be shrugged off.
Now some exciting news.
Two friends of mine came up with a treatment for an animated film and pitched it to Pixar last week. Pixar loved it and is wanting a screenplay so they are currently hard at work on that. So that is definitely long run, but it would be very cool to see it come to fruition.

Cars looks like it would be weak but it's turning out to be as good, if not better than some of their others. No way do they have a dud on their hands.

Yeah, just because it doesnt look as good as Toy Story 1&2 or The Incredibles...Nemo didnt look to be too great, and we saw how that one did. I wouldnt start calling dud yet. Ice Age 2 is kicking ass and the first one was pretty bad.

Just an observation, but if you add up the fans of previous Pixar films and the potential built-in audience of 20 million+ Nascar fans, it's unlikely that Cars is going to flop.
The subject matter is obviously not everyone's cup of tea, but IMHO Cars will have to be tremendously bad to come even close to being a bomb.
Which is not to say it can't happen. Personally, I'm reserving judgement until I see the movie. If I'm disappointed, then AFAIC it's a flop regardless of how much money it generates.

I'm not hopeful about cars, but I wasn't about finding nemo either. The people at Pixar are so talented, I think they could do a film about two rocks and still be blown away. And knowing pixar you'd probably be bawling your eyes out.
