Question About Bride of Chucky

Spoiler:
In the scene where they shoot the nails at John Ritter's face, why does Chucky say "Why does that look so familiar?", I've never been able to figure that out.

It calls back the oppening credits sequence where you see iconic apparel from other horror icons.

I'd allude it more to them both being late 80s/early 90s horror staples.
