Does anyone have anything to say about the Ghostbusters Rerelease this weekend. Watched it last night, I was too young to see it in theatres in 84, and had a lot of fun. The restoration looked great as I am sure the upcoming bluray will too.

I enjoyed it as well. I was only five when it came out and this is my first time seeing it on the big screen. I'm sure people will complain that it was shown digitally or that it's not the original version without the cgi gargoyle.

I didnt notice any cgi effects, everything looked as it originally was filmed to me. I was only two when Ghostbusters was first released in theatres, so this was a real treat. The Alamo Drafthouse in town shows it regularly as well, I hope to catch it the next time they show it in 35mm.

Ghostbusters was the first movie my mother took me to as a child. This will be my third time seeing it in a theater, as I caught the Cinemark classic release last Spring as well. Can;t wait to see the transfer.

It's a scene overlooking the street from just over the shoulder of one of the gargoyles/terror dogs. I could have swore it looked different when the two pack dvd came out a bunch of years ago. It was around the time Speiberg tinkered with ET and people were upset Reitman changed things too. When I get home from work I'll do some research.

Bill Murray Reveals The Women He'd Choose For 'Ghostbusters 3'
The Huffington Post | By Emily Thomas
Bill Murray won't be appearing in the upcoming "Ghostbusters III," which is likely to feature a female-centric plot. Instead, he has offered up his top picks for the job.
In a recent interview with The Toronto Star, Murray suggested Melissa McCarthy, his co-star in the upcoming film "St. Vincent," would be a good fit for a role in the next "Ghostbusters" flick. He also mentioned a few more of our favorite comediennes.
“Melissa would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny -- God, she’s funny!" he told the Star during the Toronto Film Festival this weekend. “I like this girl Linda Cardellini ("Mad Men") a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.”
Murray may actually be on to something with his funny female picks. Paul Feig, the director of "Bridesmaids," which starred both Wiig and McCarthy, is currently in negotiations to helm the next chapter of the "Ghostbusters" saga, according to reports.
Speaking to HuffPost Live host Ricky Camilleri on Sept. 5, Reitman said he's fairly certain Feig will get the job.
"I know that the studio is negotiating with Paul, and I think it's probably going to work out," said Camilleri. "There were always going to be women involved in the next iteration of 'Ghostbusters.' Paul seems to be the perfect director to sort of bring that about."

I started watching #2 on DVD Sunday night but... fell asleep. My fault for being too tired... but what I DID watch did not have the same magic that I remembered from my youth.

My perfect cast for an all female Ghostbusters movie: Aubrey Plaza, Linda Cardellini, Emma Stone, Anna Kendrick and throw Kaitlin Olson in there as a supporting character, maybe as a medium who helps out the Ghostbusters.

I really don't see why an all female cast is being pushed. I'd be okay if it was a member or two. I'd still rather see members of the Apatow crew personally and could easily see Rogen, Franco, and possibly Hill as great Ghostbusters.

Part of me is offended that it would take a gimmick like an all-female cast to get this made, but the other part is interested to see how well that gimmick could work. If done in an empowering way, it could be good for women in cinema.

I don't want to see a Charlie's Angels vs Ghosts. What made the original Ghostbusters wasn't that they were all pretty boys. They were characters. IMO, they need to find the female equivalent if they want to go for the same feel of the first one.

I get Sony doesn't really have any viable other franchises next to Spider-Man, but since they're obviously not going to do it right then just don't do it at all.

It says a lot about society that an all female Ghostbusters crew would be gimmicky, yet no one would feel that way if it were all male.
So you side with Murray about McCarthy?
