Best James Bond Henchman?
Who do you think is the best James Bond henchman? At the top of my list is Jaws; a henchman that had more personnality than the main villains in later Brosnan films. Also another favourite is Robert Shaw as Red Grant in the early Sean Connery film, From Russia With Love.
Who is your top Bond henchman? |

Jaws and Oddjob were cool gimick wise. But in terms of badassness and all around coolest. It's gotta be shaw in from russia with love.
![]() The smartest of all the henchmen.

Red Grant, hands down. He came closer to killing Bond than anyone. And he was never played for laughs unlike Jaws or Oddjob.

Robert Shaw is the best Bond Henchman, in the best Bond film "From Russia With Love".

Great choices all. I'm a big fan of Jaws and Odd-Job myself, but there are other very good henchmen who came across as being ruthless. Locque in For Your Eyes Only (always reminded me of Warren Zevon with the glasses) was a cruel SOB.

Jaws for me. wrestling the shark was pretty badass. Plus, he was one of the few that I'd acutually be afraid of.

Red Grant tops the list. with Jaws a close second. Jaws might've even been first but he went all wussy in Moonraker.
I also enjoyed Benicio del Toro as the crazy Dario from Licence to Kill. Let's also not forget Mr. Kidd and Mr. Wint from Diamonds are Forever. ![]()

Gotta go with Shaw as well.
And I hope you are joking about Mr. Wint & Mr. Kidd. Why not go with Bambi & Thumper? I personally think they should throw Sir Sean Connery into the mix in the next movie. He is still in pretty good shape & it would be a nice wink at the series. I'd like to see him take on a young Bond.

Those guys were the most laughable henchmen ever. Not the least bit menacing and thier deaths were the funniest thing i have ever seen in a Bond movie. Grant from "From Russia with Love" - Came closest to killing Bond. 2nd goes to Grace Jones' character in "View to a Kill" - because Grace Jones is scary.

Jaws for me. Spy Who Loved me was one of the first movies that I ever saw in a theater and he's been my personal favorite since. I don't really take Moonraker into consideration when thinking about Bond flicks (partly because of what they did with Jaws in that movie).
Moonraker was just one of those embarrassing post Star Wars rip-offs wearing Bond's clothing. If I was older, I might be picking a different favorite, but to me...Jaws rocks! |

Red Grant (Robert Shaw) and Oddjob (Harold Sakata) were easily the best two. Jaws (Richard Kiel) would be up there with those two as well if he had only appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me. But the producers had to bring him back in Moonraker and turn this scary character into a silly joke. It really diminished the character a lot.
And no one else in any of the other Bond films comes close to being as memorable. |

![]() Götz Otto as Stamper in Tomorrow Never Dies. Stamper always seems like a soldier, the way a real henchman would seem; he also has his own malevolent streak, as shown by his love for torture and how much he relishes what he does. He has no problem with mass murder. I think he outclasses the underused Grant. "I owe you an unpleasant death, Mr. Bond." Spoiler:

Sorry, Red Grant for me (serious hit man, and almost a successful one!)
Followed by Oddjob (menace) Miss Onatopp (best female killer in series) |

Many, if not most, Henchmen die after the boss in the Bond movies. A trend that began with Oddjob.
How many Henchmen survived? Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Jaws. |

exactly. he also wrestled and killed a tiger shark. I don't see Robert Shaw doing that (he got bit in half by a shark in Jaws the movie!) coincidence? I think not! |

I forgot to mention Irma Bunt. She not only killed Tracy, but as far as we know, she's still on the loose.
