Dark Days (Ketai, 2010) ---> '30 Days of Night' sequel
i loved the first, so i will be looking forward to this, but bummer that Melissa George won't be reprising her role. i like some familiarity in my sequels and while, of course, Hartnett cannot partake, i did like her too.

30 Days of Night sequel films this fall

Even though 30 Days of Night only made $75 million worldwide when it came out in the fall of 2007 Columbia Pictures is putting together production on a sequel, 30 Days of Night: Dark Days. The second film will follow the storyline in the Dark Days comic book series that followed the original mini and show us how Stella Oleson, one of the survivors of the deadly vampire attack on Barrow, Alaska, has become a hunter of vampires in the city of angels.
Bloody Disgusting has learned the identity of the director behind the camera on Dark Days and it will be Ben Ketai, the same guy that shot the two 30 Days of Night web series that served as a prequel and sequel to the 2007 movie. The screenplay is by Ketai and the 30 Days of Night creator Steve Niles. Production is scheduled to take place in Vancouver, Canada come October. However, it looks like Dark Days might likely be a direct-to-video release: BD also reports that the actress that will play Stella in Dark Days won't be Melissa George. Instead, the role is being recast and that's almost a sure sign that the budget is going to be reduced on this production. Still, if the sequel's production values and air of menace is half as good as the first film then it'll be a for sure to check out on DVD.

Not a big vampire fan but loved 30 days of night. Don't know if I'll be watching this one though. I loved the thought of being trapped in Barrow, AK....LA just doesn't do it for me.

If it gets direct to dvd treatment, then it wont be any good, guarantee. Melissa Gerorge or not.
I liked 30 Days of Night and would be down for a theatrical sequel.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: Do crucifixes work against the vampires in this movie, or is it anti-Christian like the first film?

I thought the first one had great atmosphere, cool production design and provided a cool take on the vampire mythos. But I don't really have too high of hopes for this one, though I'm hoping to be proven wrong. Last I heard, if they made a sequel it wuld be DTV. Guess that's not the case?

The original was visually pretty impressive in spots and had some decent things going for it, but it was a bit dull. Diary of Anne Frank with vampires is how I used to describe it. Not sure I'd be too into a sequel but we'll see.
