Clone Vehicle Question
(note: This question does not have anything to do with inconsistencies in the script, sloppy filmmaking, poor dialog, or contradictions with the original trilogy. I apologize in advance.)
On Kasyyk, the clone troopers use large, multiwheeled transport/assault vehicles. Apart from the Jawa's Sandcrawler and some Gungan wagons, this is the only example I can remember of a wheeled vehicle in the Star Wars Universe.
My question is, is the design of this wheeled transport a homage to some of the early design work done for TESB? I seem to recall seeing early drawings of a similar vehicle, which evolved into the AT-AT. Were there any other vehicle designs that were based on old ideas?
(note 2: I know the Sandcrawler is a tracked vehicle and not a wheeled one, but it's one of the very few non floating, non walking vehicles in the Star Wars Universe.)

there was a wheeled toy from the original trilogy. two rollers on "legs" that could move so the vehicle could be high or low to the ground
