I don't think Watchmen was sold on Miller's name at all.

Even still, given the first movie's relatively low budget and success, it's not like a sequel would have people predicting a $200 million dollar box office and I'm sure they would have been able to keep the budget increases fairly low.

Really? 300 probably got a lot of bank because of it's trailers...yes, Miller had some part in it's cash flow..but the trailers were super badass showing some awesome action. That sold me more than the fact that Miller had a part in 300's creation. yes, I knew beforehand he did it. BUT my friends all wanted to see it cuz of the great trailers that were for it.

Heck, all of M. Night Shyamalan's movies always say "from the director of the sixth sense" and everyone see's them anyway... I highly doubt a name would hurt an average moviegoers ticket sale.

It wasn't at all, because Miller had nothing to do with Watchmen. I just see a thread through them. Watchmen had a lot of "From the visionary director of 300" stuff going on in the ads. The 300 ads were heavy on "From the creator of Sin City."

But considering how much 300 outgrossed Sin City by, it did definitely move beyond the strength of his name.

re: Sin City: A Dame To Kill For (2014) D: Rodriguez/Miller

"WeGotThisCovered website caught up with director Robert Rodriguez, who revealed that both "Sin City" and "Machete" sequels have been greenlit and are ready to shoot.

"'Sin City 2' is going good. We're just finishing the script for that. We already got the money," said the director. "We have everything we need so we can just start shooting as soon as we get the pages."

He continued: "And it's the same thing for 'Machete 2.' We've already got the budget, just waiting for the script. As soon as we're finished writing we get to start the shoot."

During Comic-Con, Rodriguez promised that "Sin City 2" will begin filming this year. It looks like that may happen. Stay tuned."

Could this finally be it? Fuckin' eh I didn't think it would take this long to start filming.

So will they be able to use Angelina Jolie as Ava?

how many times has he said that? I'll start believing it when he starts getting the cast together.

I've been dissapointed so many times, I'm not prepared to believe it until I'm sitting in the theater watching it.

at this point I doubt it - probably a little too low profile for her.

He's not dead, is he? So how is there a Miller estate to be shopping rights to anything?

Frank's still with us... mostly... though after The Spirit and The Dark Knight Strikes Again his talent and creativity might well be pushing up daisies.

The Dark Knight Strikes Again is thoroughly underrated. All-Star Batman and Robin though...

At least All-Star Batman and Robin had decent art.

That's what Frank Miller's art looks like. So you're saying you don't like the look of The Dark Knight Returns or Ronin, either?

I haven't particularly cared for Miller's art since... sometime around Sin City: Family Values.
And the coloring in DKSA was godawful as well.

I've never really been a huge fan of Miller's art, anyway. His style worked for DKR and the early Sin City volumes, but I've never been a huge fan of his art.

There's a difference of an artstyle w/ TDKR and Ronin compared to TDKSA. It's Miller, that's obvious..but TDKSA lacks the punch in the art that TDKR and Ronin had. Deep down I want to like TDKSA but....it's hard to do that.

You never know, if only because Rodriguez has this advantage of shooting so efficiently in his own space that actors can generally come in and do a reasonably big part with the time investment of a smaller one. It's one thing when someone asks her to do Salt and she's gotta fly around the world and do stunts and shoot on location, and it's another when Rodriguez asks her to do six days in front of a green screen.

Yeah, Rodriguez has a an awesome production schedule when it comes to filming. The way he did SC w/ all the actors is pretty cool.

The Dark Knight Strikes Again is the same concept as The Dark Knight Returns but instead of TV's inundating us with opinions, it's the internet bombarding us with information instantly from around the globe 24/7. In that light, TDKSA makes total sense and is a worthy follow-up to TDKR, imo.

Yea, Rob, that's great and all, but I don't actually believe you're going to be shooting anything until you're doing it. Set pics or it isn't happening.

Yeah...he hasn't even talked to the actors to film this year. We're in mid August. I know he shoots fast but...people got schedules. I'd start talking now.

Set pics? Eh, you've seen one greenscreen, you've seen them all.
