Hong Kong Fanatic: jackie chan

They just released "police story1" on dvd here in AU, i was wondering with the other "police story 2,3,4" if they have been released in the US?

I believe police story's are the best movies jackie has made.

Favorite from each decade:

70's-Dunken Master
80's-Police Story (It used to be Dragons Forever, but repeated viewings of PS won me over)
90's-Drunken Master II
2000-(So far) Shanghai Noon (Underrated fun flick IMO)

"New Police Story" was damn good.

That movie had my girlfriend crying at two or three different parts in the film. She said she hated it because it wasnt like Jackie's other movies...but i loved it.

And the "Shanghai Noon/Knights" movies were Jackies best American efforts (IMO). Other than Owen and Jackie having good chemistry "Knights" gets major points because its got old-school Jackie prop fights in it

Although the movie was ten times better than the crappy movies he put out while in Hollywood, I didn't like it as much as the earlier PS movies.

Yeah, the "Shanghai" films are great but Shanghai Knights loses some points with me because of the wasted opportunity with the Jackie Chan/Donnie Yen fight. It was too short. They should have had Fann Wong fight Aidan Gillen's stunt double (which was pretty painfully obvious) while Jackie should have had a much bigger fight Donnie.

Still, I hope for a third "Shanghai" film. Oh and even if I get flamed for this, I thought Around The World In 80 Days was highly underrated.

Since it looks like noone has actually answered your question yet... Police Story 1 & 2 and "New Police Story" are no where to be found in the US (atleast last I checked) you can easily get the R0 versions from importers (either a store that imports it for you or go directly to the source yourself [my favorite method] and order them from Hong Kong). Your best option though is to get a R2/regionless player and get the Hong Kong Legends version of both 1 & 2. Police Story 3 does have an official R1 release under the title Supercop. Similarly Police Story 4 has been released under the name First Strike.

Hope that helps...

BTW for the record I think Miracles is probably my favorite JC movie (love the rope factory fight) followed by Drunken Master 2 (Legend of Drunken Master in R1).

What's the name of the Jackie Chan movie where they're racing cars through the desert or something, and at one point a female character gets bit by a snake and Jackies fixes it with herbs or plants?

Actually, now that I think about it I'm not sure it was even Jackie Chan who was in it. That or I'm an idiot and am making the whole thing up

I'm pretty sure that's "Who Am I?" but it's been awhile since I've seen it. Was there a hi-rise roof top fight towards the end?

Or did Jackie make a coconut IV? If so, it's definitely Who Am I?

Oh and, nemein, glad to see some more love for Miracles.

Well nothing holds up to the other PS movies because those are classic. "New Police Story" has nothing to do with the older ones so i really didnt compare them. I knew the new one was more serious and i was alright with that.

Then again not that long before i bought "New Police Story" i had seen the last 15 minutes of "The Medallion"....NPS is light years better than that movie.

On another note:

I wish i could find an uncut copy of "Mr. Nice Guy" on DVD in its orginal languge (english).
