Alien 5? Predator 3? Terminator 4?

Has any news come out about these? The only thing I found was on Dark Horizons that read Arnold won't make a cameo unless it's filmed in California but right now they want to film in Budapest.

Anyway, there's this idiot at work who claims he read that they announced Alien 5 & Predator 3 and that Sigourney Weaver has all ready signed on for Alien 5, but I can't find ANYTHING about this. Except for bogus RUMORS...anyway, just to clear things up has anyone heard anything about these films?

Pre production work is already being done on T4. Supposedly it will begin shooting this year. But unfortunately it looks like Alien vs Predator was the nail in the coffin for both of those franchises.

Sounds like your friend likes to make up stuff.

as for anything in news. Aliens might have a new project. Last I heard fox has gotten P.W.S.A to pen a new script for an aliens onlyfilm :shudder: but chances are he wont direct it (think Resident Evil 2)

With the success of AVP finicially to the studio, they want more. So we haven't seen the last of these creatures. but don't expect weaver to be apart of it.

those rumors of Paul Anderson writing a new Alien flick are old, and just rumors.

I'm looking forward to T4, it better be set in the future, no more Terminator's through time, just show me some hardcore sci-action war footage! The little bit we saw in T3 was really amazing, beautiful FX.

I'd love another Predator and Alien flick, seperately of course.

Well, everything is "just rumors" till it's officially announced. Original poster asked a couple of question. Weaver has stated in interviews that she has recieved nothing and that she thinks it's already long over for ripley.

Ridley Scott has also said no to any chance of him taking ahold of any future alien project. That the time for any alien project are long over for him.

Though no involvement of PWSA in a future alien or predator film is great news. The studios want to do them and felt AVP sparked interest in the franchises again. Just give it time.

If the AvP DVD sells really well, I could see Fox may announcing more Alien and Predator films.

no Sigoney Weaver, her executive decisions were the main reasons why the last 2 failed.

I'd love to see T4 but I could do without another AVP. I sat through that whole flick waiting for the Aliens vs Predator part. Seems like most of the movie was devoted to the humans, which I don't think anyone really wanted to see.

AVP made $80mil in the US and $90 overseas, for a grand total of $170mil. Pretty good considering it only cost $60mil to produce.

Hardly a bomb.

I agree qith Quigon on this one. Even though I thought the movie was a giant piece of shit. I can not deny that it was a very good investment for 20th century and showed that the franchise is still an item that they can make a profit off.

Very true about the first AVP making money, but I wonder how many fans they turned off with that movie. It was so bad that fans might not pay to see a sequel.

Eh. Get some better people behind a new one, you could very well do well with a new movie.

There's enough love these characters I think a good looking movie with them will do well. I don't think AVP is any better or worse than Predator 2 or Alien Resurrection, all of which aren't good for their various reasons. But with a 38 million dollar opening, it's obvious many will watch it cause of what it is. I know I'm in that camp.

If Alien 5 starts as dream sequence explaining 3 and 4 were just bad cryogenic dream, then I all for it. Otherwise its just best to let sleeping dogs lie.

It only made 90 dollars overseas, that sucks!

Fortunately, that'll never happen. Alien 3 was disapointing, but over time I've grown quite fond of it. The last thing we need is another story about Ripley and Hicks and Newt running around. Ripley is done for, though I wouldn't have any problems with ignoring Resurection. The Company is a part of this franchise, there was no need to jump ahead 200 years and get rid of it.

But no more Ripley...her character is dead, the new one isn't very interesting, we should just move on. But, given good talent, I'd love to see an Alien 5. But...only if they get GOOD talent, and don't let it be some flash in the pan action horror B movie. The one thing about the Alien franchise is that it's always had fantastic directors working on them. Granted, each of those films was relatively early in their respective careers, but from Scott to Cameron to Fincher to Jeunet (even though I think his film sucks), hopefully if they do touch it again they'll pay heed to what this franchise has had behind the camera.

As long as they keep making them, they might get one right.

If they kill the franchises, they definitely won't. Not even accidentally.

People are welcome to ignore the ones they don't care for. Unless they are a Fox shareholder, I don't understand why people would get so offended at a movie being made--and since they are highly profitable, even that wouldn't hold water. I can, however, understand their disappointment in the final product not living up to their hopes of what could have been. But I don't see how wishing for the death of the franchises remedies that injustice. That just strikes me as a bit melodramatic.

I guess it really depends on what you consider to be a good investment. $60 million production costs for a return of $170 MM isn't that bad, but I don't think its that hot either. I bet marketing was close to $30 million worlwdie, so you are looking at 80 MM return. Not bad, not gangbusters either. Along the way, they probably damaged two of their signature baddies significantly. So yea, you can get away with it for a bit, but eventually it just damages it beyond belief. Keep reading for my explanation.

The advantages of monster movies is that you don't need have spiraling actor costs. Predator got rid of Arnie and continued somewhat successfully with Glover and now a bunch of rejects in AvP. Alien always had more investments in it and kept Weaver through the run, which probably hamstrung the story lines in the last 2 movies.

The problem is that you keep going to the well, eventually you lose people. There was a lot of demand to see these two characters back in action after years of only seeing them in comics, etc.

Unforuntately, I really think that AvP damaged a lot of core audience with its inattention to anything that had been done before. Eggs gestating in 10 minutes. No continuity in the Predator's actions from previous movies.

I admit I saw AvP in the theaters. I grew up with the movies Aliens and Predator, so they kinda hold a special place in the heart, kinda like Star Wars does. But if Paul Anderson is retained and does future work with the characters, I will skip the next one. No need to watch crap when I go back and watch the originals and be entertained.
