Creepy DVD's to watch for Halloween....

Hey all,

It's almost that time....and being a special effects makeup artist, it's REALLY great time.....Needless to say movies are a bog part of creating the Halloween Atmosphere for me....

What are some of your favorite "Horror" movies to watch around Halloween to create a creepy atmosphere....

I like:

- The Wicker Man
- American Werewolf in London
- The Fog
- Night Of The Living Dead 90'

....and about 50 others....OK, maybe not 50...

Your turn.....

(I wonder if we can strategically add to/bump this thread everyday to keep it up-front until Halloween...hhmm...?)

Thanks,

Matt

add to the showing of "Gigli" a screening of that "From Justin to Kelly" movie and watch them scream in terror.

Dog Soldiers has some pretty good scares and some pretty good laughs ("...sausages!").

The Exorcist
Halloween
Night of the Living Dead
Last House on the Left
Maniac

and when the booze settles in by the end of the night, throw in
Evil Dead or Evil Dead II for some light hearted horror...

and if you're really drunk and still have a blood lust...

Ahhhhhh.......I love these threads

My picks:

Dawn of the Dead '04 (and if it gets pushed back again, there will be hell to pay - I've had enough).

American Werewolf in London - how can you not love this flick?

House of 1000 Corpses - like the Doc said, it's a Halloween movie.

The Blair Witch Project - As a person who goes camping almost every chance they get, this is a must see for me.

Well to keep it current I will be rewatching some of the recent releases like:

Night of the Demons
Witchboard
Shaun of the Dead
Candyman SE
and Dawn of the Dead (possibly newer one too)

Of course I always get nostalgic for some Evil Dead action so one of those atleast will be watched. And as usual I will have to throw in Suspiria.

Suspiria is a good pick - although for me, I tend to get too freaked out by that damn ending (one of the best in horror IMO) and the beginning. Damn, now I have to watch it.

I've already started my Halloween marathon since there are so many I want to fit in this year. I'm trying to focus on movies I haven't seen before or at least movies I haven't seen in a while mixed with a few annual favorites.

Already watched (as of 9/23/04):
Re-Animator Trilogy
Shaun of the Dead (Great!)
Haute Tension (Awesome!)
The Locals
Undead
Night of the Demons
Event Horizon
Halloween: Resurrection (Dear Lord, this sucked so bad!)
The Last Broadcast (sucked even worse!)
Bad Taste (never saw it before, I was a little underwhelmed after the years of hype, but it is great considering the budget )
Uzumaki
House of a 1000 Corpses (liked it until the last 15-20 minutes)
Night of the Living Dead - 1990 remake

Starting Tonight and on through Halloween:
Night of The Living Dead (just bought the Millenium Edition)
Dawn of the Dead (just bought the new Ultimate Edition)
Day of the Dead (just got it, too )
28 Days Later (continuing the zombie fest)
Waxwork/Waxwork II (double feature DVD, P/S though )
Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things
Zombie (Zombi 2)
Warlock
Evilspeak (never saw this one before)
Terror Train
Ginger Snaps I-III (saw I already)
Silver Bullet (guilty pleasure)
The Creeping Flesh
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
They Live
Mimic 1-3
Wolfen
CHUD
Wisconsin Death Trip
House
The Stuff
Body Snatchers (1990's remake)
In the Mouth of Madness
Braindead (Dead Alive)
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (annual fave)
Halloween I, III (only ones I like)
American Werewolf in London (annual)
Below - great ghost story!
The Changeling (annual)
Creepshow 1 & 2 (annual)
Dog Soldiers

I'm also going to watch the classic Universal flicks (including the 2nd batch coming out later in October) with my son, he's never see them. Halloween weekend is reserved for these.

There will be more if I have time between now and Halloween

I forgot to add that I plan on a Texas Chainsaw Massacre double feature one night (old & new). I also forgot The Fog - annual favorite.

I wish I could find a copy of Monster Squad somewhere. I would even watch a VHS version since it's been so long since I've seen it.

Geez, there are so many listed above that I forgot about that my Halloween marathon may run into Thanksgiving

I usually mix them up pretty well. Some of my favs are:

Friday the 13th
Halloween
Hell Night
Scream Of Fear
Night of the Demons
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
The Hollywood Knights
It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

It doesn't seem like Halloween without Charlie and his bag of rocks!
