King Conan: Crown of Iron by John Milius is still in production. They've just postponed it until Arnold's political career is over. May not sound like a smart idea to some but Conan is much older in Milius' script and WB originally wanted Triple H until they saw how little interest Conan fans had in a COnan movie without Arnold.

I Am Legend, eh? Wasn't there a script floating about that was by the guy who wrote The Cell? Never mind that it's already been made twice...

At this point, you'd need serious style to make it look like it wasn't cliched... as so many movies have mined it for material.

I would have loved to have seen Fincher do it ten years ago. With David Bowie.

I'd have liked to see the Vega Brothers movie that Tarantino proposed a while back.

That or see Natural Born Killers how he originally wrote it.

Other ones include:
Labor of Love - Shyamalan
The German Lieutant - Kubrick
Carnivore - Wachowski Brothers

And I think I'm pretty happy with the way Spider-Man came out.

Pfft. Everyone knows that Mel Gibson single-handedly won the Revolutionary War.

I always thought the premise of Ghostbusters 3 sounded great.
John Woo's 'Metroid.' & TMNT.

and I'll go with previously mentioned - Cameron's Spiderman
Kevin Smith's Superman & Fletch movies.

William Tell

Erroll Flynn started this project with his own money and thought he had other financing lined up when the shoot began. But the other money fell through, and production stopped after only 30 minutes of footage was completed (the footage is now lost). If completed it would have been the first movie in Cinemascope, beating The Robe.

What was the premise to Ghostbusters 3? I always imagined it would be something like the cartoon Extreme Ghostbusters where the old ghostbusters trained new ones.

I would have liked to have seen Heart of Darkness by Orson Welles.

That was supposedly the film that he originally wanted to make when he first got to Hollywood, but couldn't secure the financing - so he made Citizen Kane instead.

That wasn't exactly a bad move for him - but it would have been cool to see an Orson Welles version of Apocalypse Now in the early 40's.

Michael-Can you elobrate on the GB3 movie, the only thing I heard is that the plot revolved around Bill Murray's character being killed/dead and being a ghost himself, is that true?

Also elobrate on Woo's TMNT, now that sounds interesting....

Wait, wait though....3 out of the four turtles already weild a weapon in each hand, so how can John Woo add his personal touch to it

I think woo already dumped the turtles. It was going to be all CG in the vein of the original comic. Dark. Not like the cartoony/comedic stuff they already did.
...info...

As for Ghostbusters, they are retired and at some point hell becomes too full, so all the excess ghosts/spirits/demons start spilling back into the city. So they come out of retirement and train some new guys to take care of the problem. It has been quite a while since I read about that.

Surprised all the talk about Cameron's Spiderman. I guess none of you guys have read the script treatment that he did for it.

The high point of that was where Spiderman rescues Mary Jane and then takes her to the top of a bridge where he webs her arms to the wall and then has sex with her. Sorry, but give me Raimi's version anyday over Cameron's crazed sex-fetish Spiderman.

Personally I'd go with I, Robot by Harlan Ellison and Asimov.

A few yars ago I read Martin Caidin's "Exit Earth" novel, and the back cover clearly stated the rights to a film were already sold and the film was "coming soon"... never happened. The book wasn't bad, as far a catastrophic novels go - it was much better than "Deep Impact" or "Day After Tomorrow".

There are many, many great books that have never been considered for a screen treatment. Personally, I'm sick of this fancy trend of filming comic strips... I think it's a sad reminder of the ignorance and lack of culture that have become predominant these days. Haven't people had enough of Spider-man, Batman and all this nonsense? From Jules Verne's 40 lesser-known novels, to the latest Umberto Eco book, there are many good films waiting to be made, and they would beat the crap out of all the stuff we see every day on imdb.com

I'd love to read that. Is the script for Napoleon available on the Web?

I would have liked to seen 6-9 the way it was originally supposed to be (before they were all condensed into ROTJ)

Casablanca 2! - yes, it would have continued with the rick-Captain Renault storyline set up at theend of the original. by the way, head over to Amazon and do a search for a very good book on this subject by Chris Gore titled "The 50 Greatest Movies Never Made" - lots of great stories about films that could have been!
