Wicker Park a play on Vertigo?

Has anyone here seen the trailer for Wicker Park starring Josh Hartnett? It looks like 'Vertigo' to me. I don't get how these hollywood screenwriters can't come up with original ideas anymore.

Well, now that you mention it, it does bear a passing resemblance to Vertigo. On the other hand, it was also indistinguishable from almost every other trailer I've seen with it.

Hitchcockian influences are most assuredly there, however, this is actually a Hollywood remake of a fantastic French film called "L'Appartement" starring Monica Bellucci, Romane Bohringer and Vincent Cassel, which sadly, has yet to see a R1 release. I saw the trailer for this running ahead of "Collateral", and to be frank, was disgusted. Knowing how wonderful the original is I feel quite comfortable in the fact that a remake starring Josh Hartnett will in all likelihood fail to repeat the greatness inherently found in the first.

it seems kinda different from vertigo if you ask me, but I guess it has a similar theme going for it. doesn't look all that good though.

Yeah, if anything, it looks more like Single White Female.

I feel that L'Appartement was one of the finest films of the '90s. Wicker Park, the American remake, will suck because of American studios' predilection towards making everything accessible to everyone. That and the fact that the cast is just far too ridiculous to pull it off with any believability.
