the news about tom being offered the role came in before this one. There's a thread about it and how it may or may not be a good idea to connect a superman movie to the smallville world.

Yeah this is just to generate publicity. They did the same thing for the part of Robin in Batman Forever. I waited in line for 2 hours, only for them to tell me I was too masculine.

It's funny because I didn't even realize that! When I chose my screen name it was because I thought it was amusing (never been a big comic-book fan). Anyway, yes! Maybe the rejection has sunk deep into my subcontious and this is the only way I could live out my dream.

I'm sure Clint can play someone.

Not a comic role either. He's not a bad actor at all. Mayor of Metropolis, maybe?

... reminds me of the SNL skit, w/ Christopher Reeve, that had an open casting call for the Superman: The Movie.. All that's missing is the sentence: "Applicant must be able to catch a speeding bullet with his teeth."

I've always thought that Tom Welling was a pretty good choice if they were going with a mid to late 20s Supes. He seems to embody the intangible characteristics pretty well. That whole awkward yet confident thing.
