Tron, Canadian Bacon, and Godfather are on your top 20? I have no idea what to recommend.

Memento
The Bourne Identity
Silence of the Lambs
True Romance (director's cut)
Master and Commander

You might want to try some TV on DVD boxed sets, too. My personal must-haves include The X-Files, The Simpsons, Futurama, Freaks & Geeks Family Guy, 24, Millennium, and too many more to list.

Memento is a neat little thriller/mystery about a man who lost his short term memory in an "accident" and is looking for the person responsible. It's not so much what the story's about as how the story is told...basically, it's chopped up and fed in reverse chronological fragments, so the viewer suffers the same "memory loss" as the main character.

True Romance is the first script by Quentin Tarantino, and was directed by Tony Scott. It has a similar feel to some of QT's other work, and it's a really underappreciated gem. Plotwise, it's about a young couple who fall in love fast, and look to strike it rich in a big-time drug deal. The cast is also phenomenal, and features Dennis Hopper, Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, James Gandolfini, Christopher Walken, Brad Pitt, and many more.
