Hooray for Hollywood!
That Screwy, Ballyhooey HOLLYWOOD!

Of course, I've never been hounded 24 hours a day by psychos climbing into my yard, looking to take a picture of me in my birthday suit. HOWEVER, you want the riches and fame of being a celebrity, you must take the bad shit too.

I think the movie looks really good. I saw the trailer few times and never once did I laugh. My mouth actually dropped and I said wow! I got to see this one.

But it sounds like it is just me.

How bad could this movie be ?? After all, the director, Paul Abascal, was the frikkin hair stylist for Judge Dredd & Demolition Man.

And I'd like to have a new film contain a hard R rating (and I mean hard R) and not ***** out and go with a PG-13.

Barbra Steisand's hairdresser, Jon Peters, is the man we all have to thank for making Tim Burton's Batman happen. A previous job is not the pinnacle of a person' talents.

If you want to see something really funny, check out the trailer for the new Pete Rose ESPN flick.
Tom Sizemore plays Pete.
Yeah, but that's a Peter Bogdonavich movie... it could be really, really good.

And if Jon Peters only stayed with that job...

Some reviews...

http://www.filmjerk.com/new/article-1024--0-0.html

"This really is fantastically awful film, with Abascal and his producer, Mel Gibson, cashing in favors left and right to lighten the mood (Chris Rock, Vince Vaughn, and Gibson himself all cameo), and editing the film down to a scant 80 minutes just so nobody is offended by such a deplorable idea for a movie. Leave it up to Hollywood to make a film about how hard it is to be rich and famous."

And another from Film Jerk...

http://www.filmjerk.com/new/article-1023--0-0.html

"'Paparazzi' is a jumbled mess, and it would be too easy to get cynical and blame it all on the first-time director, a one-time hair stylist on the first three 'Lethal Weapon' movies, and the first-time screenwriter, a former wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks. In truth, the film is a mess from all angles."

That is probably the most appropriate place . . .

. . . "Produced by Mel Gibson," anybody want to bet that he didn't spend his own money on this one?

This movie is Pricess Diana + Mad Max all in one. Now remember Princess died while be chased and in the move Mad Max (staring Gibson) he hunted down the bikers that killed his wife and kid. Anyone else think of this?

I saw the film today. I laid down six dollars and went into the theater expecting the worst film of 2004 next to The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra.

I'm going to say this: I enjoyed the film. I do admit, it's an awful and terrible film, but I thought it was watchable for the fact it's overloaded with cheese. Overacting to the gills, predictable plot twists, little backstory or character development, and gratitous action sequences. This is what a guilty pleasure is made out of. Paparazzi is a quick and fast eighty minute movie that doesn't stop to take a breath. Yeah, it's unintentionally funny, and I do admit, I laughed my ass off the entire film, but I enjoyed it.

I would've enjoyed the film a lot more (and maybe considered a DVD purchase) if it didn't take itself so fucking seriously. Then again, for the fact the film takes itself seriously makes it even funnier, but whatever. Hell, I would've enjoyed the film a lot more if the film was slapped with an R rating and had blood and guts, but whatever. Then again, I would've loved the film if actually people with talent had a chance to work on the script and direct it, but what can you do... this could've easily been the Road House of 2004.

It's a shitfest, but a shitfest that you can laugh at and have fun with.

Now I'm going to shoot myself for admitting I liked this train wreck.

just saw this movie and i liked it

it;s not a classic but it is a good old school revenge movie

the bias against the Paparazzi is obvious but i didn't mind

I love revenge films where the revenger gets to kill and get away scott free

I saw this today and it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen. The cameos were pretty cool (Gibsons made me lol). I'm just glad I only spent $5 on the movie. More than that and I would have felt ripped. I agree though, that it would have been a lot better had it not taken itself so seriously.
