How much will Spider-man 2 make at boxoffice first weekend?
With the immensive hype and all around great reviews (all thumbs up across the board) about Spider-man 2, how much do you think Spidey 2 will make on it's first weekend at the boxoffice?
Will it go past the $114.8 million when Spider-man 1 did on its first weekend?

Well if you mean just over the weekend then $140 in four days although I do think it can hit $180 adding in wednesday and Thursday.
a $390 for the first weekend adjust for HSXers.

It'll be interesting to see how this does. Now, before Shrek 2 I would've been saying the wednesday opening would mean this flick wouldn't top the original opening during the three day weekend. Granted, Spidey 2 will have probably a much more front-loaded opening day, but I think 120 million over the three day, and 150-160 over five days is very possible.

I figure the Wednesday premiere will be a huge opening with a slight drop on Thursday. The 3-day weekend will probably be in the 100-110 million range, with around 180 million for the 5-day take.

So because of the Wednesday opening, i don't think the Friday - Sunday take of Spidey 2 will be as high as the record setting first. Not that much of a head scratcher

No one's mentioned yet that for most people Monday (July 5th) is a holiday too, since the 4th is on a Sunday. So that's one more day for it to rake in a bunch of cash. Then there's the midnight show on Tuesday night. I'm guessing by July 6th, Spidey will be somewhere in the $120 to $150 million dollar range.

for the 3-day weekend, I'll say 100-110 mil. Total for its run $375-$400 mil. I think the early May opening for the first movie helped a lot. Spidey 2 is now opening smack right in the middle of a busy summer movie season. Look at Shrek 2 this year- I think having an early summer opening helps a bit. Either way, I'll make sure the theaters get my money this weekend for Spidey2.

Ok.. maybe I should have made it clear in the first place.
The usual weekend covers from Friday-Sunday.
But since this coming weekend is special (July 4 holiday) you can count it as maybe Friday-Monday.
In fact, you can even count July 1st (Canada's day holiday) as another part of the weekend.
So now the weekend runs from Thursday-Monday.

this movie is gonna make ridiculous amounts of money. I've already got my tickets for Wednesday @ 8 PM in NYC.
My predictions:
Wednesday: $30 million
Thursday: $25 million
Friday - Saturday: $120 million
Monday: $20 million
So about $195 million for the 6 day total.
