Jake Gyllenhaal is Superman?

I can't remember which magazine I read today about this. Supposedly, he beat out Ashton and Brenden Fraiser of this role. Can anyone else confirm this?

No. You got it all wrong. Nicholas Cage is Superman.

If that's the case, good for him.

I'd still give it to Eoin Bailey, though.

Paralyzed or not, Christopher Reeves will always be Superman.

Abranut -- You would be right, if it was back 6 years ago. Nicolas Cage did signed to play Sup back then before it the project got canned. He signed a sweet $20 mil contract regardless the movie got made or not. However, I believe - Cage opted to do other projects for this money to establish good terms w/the studio.

Over 25 years later, and people are STILL spelling the last name wrong.

Besides, everyone knows by now that Kirk Alyn is Superman!

I'm sure Jake is a fine choice, but this is Superman, right? He doesn't really have the body-type to play the Superman most people expect. Superboy, sure, but not Superman.

I don't think Gyllenhaal would work as Supes at all. Too young and not big enough, plus he looks and acts way too much like Tobey Maguire.

It's going to be an impossible task for anyone to following the footsteps of Christopher Reeves. I just hope the studio bring us a good movie period and come close to Spidey, Batman and Xmen.

I believe, Superman is schedule to be release Summer 2006.
We shall wait and see!

Well, actually, the latest I had heard (it was on one of the entertainment shows) was that Tim Burton had taken over the rights to direct and was casting Johnny Depp . . . oh wait, that was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which had Cage attached at one time) . . .

You got it half right.

At this rate, Jake Gyllenhaal's son will actually be playing the role.

But Spider-man isn't supposed to be all buffed out....he's a nerdy high school teenager turned superhero. Superman is the MAN OF STEEL! Not the average sized guy who worked out real hard.

I think Gyllenhal is too creepy looking to play Superman. Maybe I've just seen Donnie Darko too many times.
