this looks pretty much like the batmobile from "the dark knight returns", even though they seem to be going a year one route. if they use the reasoning for this that was used in DKR, then it will be all good.

But that's not the point. It isn't about whether I would buy one, it's whether I "buy" the idea of Batman having one, and calling the Batmobile. If he had it as part of his arsenal, for a specific purpose, that's one thing, but the thought of that thing cruising around Gotham strikes me as rather stupid.

And while we're at it, WON'T be "cruising" around Gotham as those who've read the script know all too well.

I dunno. I mean it could easily be over looked with the amount of SUV's, H2's and other big cars out now a days. Only difference is you can't see the little television screen in the back seats.

Seriously, dismissing this movie cause of this car is silly...itfits the script, and no it won't look silly driving aroudn Gotham cause it won't be doing that.
Nonetheless tha articile says the thing really can reach up to 220 mph and can do jumps...pretty impressive if it can really do all that stuff. The orginal batmobile, while very cool looking, I believe was able to get to like 40 mph or something slow.

Since I think The Dark Knight Returns is the absolute best incarnation of Batman and that car fits the book, I like it. In the book, the Batmobile is actually more on the lines of a giant tank, much bigger even than the one pictured here (it has room inside for a gimbled operating table for example) but this is going in the right direction.
