The Monster Squad

For some reason Van Helsing remind me of The Monster Squad. I have no idea why but I thought I'd start a thread about it. "Kick him in the balls!"

Now that you mention it - I can't get it out of my head!!!

"I'm in the goddamn club aren't I?"

edit: oh, yeah - it also reminds me of it to.

I think the line was "Kick em in the nads!" If Van Helsing gets into a fight with wolf man, I will be very tempted to yell that out.

I remember seeing this in a theater as part of a Halloween double feature back in 1987. Great experience, and Mom was cool about taking me to see it.

This is one of those few classic movies (in the line of The Goonies) for me and most people I know in their early 20's.

BTW. I recall hearing that the heavy kid has since commitied suicide. It states on IMDB that he died of pneumonia at age 22. Anybody know what happened?

EDIT: His name was Brent Chalem.

Wow...I HATED this movie when I was a kid - I'm guessing I'd hate it even more now...but to each, his own.

HAHA...I just remembered the BEST part of the film!!

Spoiler:
The old mysterious guy gives his speech about monsters and as they are leaving says something like "But sometimes the real monsters are already amoung us" and the camera pans to a number tattooed on his arm (from the Holocaust). I only find this funny because it is something SO serious kindof thrown into such a light heart film...and done in such a cheesy manner.

Well, I think this is one of those movies that you love because they are so bad. But it is obviously a very thin line between movies like that and movies that you hate.

Yeah, I agree its very campy. Maybe I would enjoy it more as an adult.
