Good movies made awesome by great soundtracks that play in the movie!

So what are your picks for movies that may be good, but made so much better or even great because of soundtracks and songs that...ACTUALLY PLAY IN THE MOVIE??

I love a great soundtrack and have over 100 cd's on movie soundtracks alone, but not always because I liked that particular movie, just the artists and songs on the disc.

But what movies with songs that play at those key scenes in the movie make that movie that more special in general or just to you.

My first vote goes to "Angus" (1995). Angus, the typical underdog goes for it all with the girl of his dreams. The songs from Green Day, Goo Dolls, Ash and so much more. This movie was awesome and the music evoked every emotion the story was trying to get.

Now, yours....

I always go with Natural Born Killers and Lost Highway as 2 of my favorite (and best soundtracks IMO) that added to the mood of the film. Or listening to them afterwards, reminds me and really recreates the mood of the film.

How about another P.T. Anderson flick: Magnolia. The scene where the cast is singing the Amie Mann song is very emotional.

Goodfellas

Amazing use of songs in the movie, especially the "bodies started turning up all over the place" scene, which featured the piano solo from Layla. One of the most effective movie scenes ever. Unfortunately many of the songs featured in the movie do not appear on the cd sountrack.

By the way, I agree with your pick of "Angus". I own the soundtrack. I picked it up immediately after viewing the movie years ago. Unfortunately the movie has been unfairly overlooked.

I thought The Crow had an exceptionally strong rock soundtrack.

Trainspotting immediately comes to mind. The Crow, as mentioned, is also great.

The movie soundtrack that has the biggest impact on a movie for me is the score for Dances With Wolves. There isnt a ton of music, but the music really adds to the mood of the film.

The Crow was the first movie that the song soundtrack made the movie much better for me, although Wayne's World was fun because of the soundtrack.

Does Moulin Rouge count?

I really think The Girl Next Door had one of the better soundtracks I've heard in a while.

The Rules of Attraction is a great film made truely great by the use of the soundtrack/score

It all fit together beautifully with the visuals to create a really involving enthralling experiance.

Dawn of the Dead in R rated form stands as a good film made better by the use of the songs/score...everything was chosen beautifully, without overdoing it. Nothing was just slapped on to sell a shitty soundtrack(Freddy Vs Jason and anything by Miramax). From the great Johnny Cash opening credits montage which was beautifully apocalyptic,to the hilarious jazz version of Down with the Sickness,to People Who Died over the end credits. It all worked terrifically!

Now I just hope the unrated version makes the film a truely great film with more coherency,as alot of charecterization was obviouslly chopped out.

Guys, I think he means the songs actually have to play within the movie world. If I'm wrong, please correct me, OP.

One of the few better ones would be Forrest Gump, even though it's far from my favorite film. All those classic songs from the 60s & 70s played an important role to the various points in Forrest's life journeys.

No love for Fast Times at Ridgmont High? Not only was the music great, but the incorporation was awesome.

Another to Angus - both the soundtrack and the movie.
