New York Minute....racist?

I saw the trailer for New York Minute and there is a scene where the Olson twins are in a black woman's hair salon. Outside, the father from American Pie is looking for them. A lady in the shop (a black woman) looks out the window and says something along the lines of "What's that cracker doing out there?". How exactly is this racist line allowed? Since Cracker and Honkey are essentially the white version of 'ni__er', it seems they would be banned from saying it. Especially in a kids movie.

Come on. "Cracker" doesn't have nearly the same weight as the "N-word" and you know it.

kind of like how the Wayan's brothers can get away with "white chicks" while if white actors did this, they'd be consitered racist.

Well, maybe nabisco should change the name of their crackers to something else so you won't get offended when selecting crackers at the local super wal-mart.

Four out of six of the billed cast for Soul Man have three names.

As a result of this, I hypothesize that racism is alright in a movie starring a Mary Kate Olson.

After blackface, Aunt Jemima, and black people always having to play the fast talking sidekick give them a little lee way. Plus, when she said cracker she was just using it to describe the Olsens tiny and delicious. Even better with spray cheese though.

Has any white person anywhere ever been truly offended to their core by being called a honkey or a cracker? Probably not. Hell, it's probably more offensive to be called "white boy" or "whitey" or the n word with a w. I dunno... white people are responsible for the suffering of the jews and the african americans and the american indians and the best they could come up with for white people was "cracker" while you could fill a book with all the white created racial slurs for other cultures/skin colors. Something oughtta be done about those damn white people.

How can we take this seriously when you refer to the great Eugene Levy as "the dad in the American Pie movies"?

If anything that scene is demeaning to blacks, depicting them as backward thinking uncouth racists, i bet she spoke in the usual 'sassy black sista' tone of voice.
If you want to see whites act in racist manner in film, there are plenty of film produced from 1920-1004 that both depict minorities in a negative light, and/or refer to them as *******s(ie. Pulp Fiction, The Godfather, The Sopranos, Glory).
If you want to take it a step further, you can even get your jollies by watching those silly blacks get whacked in "Mississippi Burning" "Amistad" and "Rosewood".
