If Mozart were alive today, what kind of films would he write music for?

I was just thinking about this the other day... most composers, nowadays, look at the movie industry for work contracts - at least in the US... If Mozart were alive today, I wonder what kind of music would he compose, for what kind of films, and whether he'd establish an affiliation with any particular director (as some compsers do)...

What's your opinion?

He would write operas and symphonies.

Okay, okay, that's a total copout.

I'd think he'd write for something like Gosford Park.

You Got Served.

Yup, it really would be awsome with Mozart composing the score.

Well, first he'd have to figure out how to get out of that coffin, wouldn't he?

If Mozart were alive today, he'd throw himself out a window once he realized that more people these days recognize the work of William Hung than they do Joseph Haydn.

He'd either be scoring things like The Hours and Gosford Park, or - more likely - would work exclusively with the Farrelly brothers.

If Mozart were alive today, he would probably be a rock star, to be honest.

But to answer the question, most film composers don't work within a genre. And I imagine Herr Mozart would be no different.

Wasn't his music the "Pop" of it's day?

Groucho nailed it. I imagine "Wolfie" and Brian Wilson might have been wonderful collaborators.

Could you imagine what Pet Sounds might have sounded like w/ that collaboration?

He'd write for Michael Bay movies like a real man, not sissy movies like other composers.

He had the whole self-destruction thing down.

And, from what I've heard, Paganini was the Marilyn Manson of his day.

It would've sounded similar to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

That's probably true - he'd do big budget big box office high profile flicks. I think he'd be in to commercial success and perhaps a bit of a sellout.
