Remakes of Asian films...what's your thoughts?

DVD Talk Hero
I generally wind up seeing the Asian versions long before the US ones, and would prefer watch something with a little something to it in place of typical generic hollywood.
That said, The Eye was worse than most hollywood cliche horror flicks and is getting remade.. so it isn't always a good thing :P

I know it makes me sound like a Joe Sixpack saying it but I really don't care for "foreign" films because I hate having to read subtitles for 2 hours, and I also hate dubbed over soundtracks, even on anime when you might not be able to tell what they should be saying anyway... because the voice over actors all suck. Even Princess Monoke or whatever was annoying and with crappy acting even from some great actors (Billy Bob) who were in it. I don't mind "European" films so much as long as it's in english I liked 28 days later a lot for example.
So, that being said, I like the idea of remaking foreign films for people like me who are too lazy to learn a new language The Ring was an awesome example of what the right cast/crew can do as far as foreign remakes go.
