Get ready anime fans..here comes a live action "Cutey Honey"

That's right, Go Nagai's (Devilman, Mazinger Z) manga/anime character in a live action film starring Japanese swimsuit idol Eriko Sato.

Heres the trailer:

I'm sure that Warner won't release this over here, but I guess we can hope for a subtitled R2 DVD down the line.

Oh on a side note

It's directed by Hideaki Anno of Evangelion fame.

As long as it's not as bad as City Hunter w/ Jackie Chan, I'll watch it.

!!!

The poster alone made me curious, but now I have to see it. And wouldn't his name actually be Anno Hideaki, since the Japanese have a custom of putting the last name first?

I have been waiting for this a looong time. I've been watching that site for months for the updates. Can not wait to see this.

Hideaki Anno is an even better director with live action cinema than anime. Don't believe? Check out the absolutely beautiful and brilliant film Shiki-Jitsu starring Shunji Iwai. One of my favorite movies of all time.

And, of course,

I feel the exact same way.

True, but when a Japanese name is written in romaji (roman alphabet characters), many Japanese follow the Western tradition of family name last.
