Metroid

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr..._id=1000480930

John Woo has optioned Nintendo's best-selling video game franchise "Metroid" for the big screen. It's the latest move demonstrating the director's commitment to interactive entertainment properties because it comes as Woo is developing three original titles at his Tiger Hill video game studio using Hollywood talent.
looks interesting

Will this go any further than his Ninja Turtles project, I wonder.

John Woo has yet to make any good movies while he's been in the United States. No doubt he will destroy the Metroid franchise just like he did with Mission Impossible 2.

I would love for a Metroid movie to happen if it had the right director and writer. Seeing Ridley and Kraid on the big screen would really be sweet.

Interesting. I like John Woo's films though they do seem to be getting worse.

I hope he does a good job, but as another poster said, he has yet to make a good film in the U.S.

Will he ever make another R-rated movie or are we stuck in family land from now on? Oh how I miss the days of 50 squibbs going off on each bad guy.

I think you mean Jessica Alba as Samus Aran. It'll definitely be a tough part to cast.

So, will this movie have Samus wearing her space suit the entire movie until the final 5 minutes where she reveals herself to be a woman wearing nothing but her bra and panties?

oh btw, Face/Off was crap and Paycheck sucked hard.

Agreed. Face/Off is John Woo's best.

Personally, I hope they skew a little older with the actress. I really don't need a your average early 20s hot chick to be in this film. Nice to look at, but hopefuly she's in the damn suit. I'd rather have someone who looks like they're intelligent and physically capable, not someone who just has a nice bod.

But what am I saying...I doubt they'll even have the suit for any majority of the film.

Funny, at first I thought Jessica Alba as well, but quickly thought they should go with someone older.

Why not Charlize Theron if Aeon Flux falls through?

I recommend a non-name actress for the role. The minute you plop a big star into the Samus role, then you'll have the need for big drama, lots of face time, so on and so forth. I say throw that money into sets and special effects. Samus is kinda like your guide into these alien worlds. It would be a shame if this turned into hot chick fighting on a space ship.
