The Movie Quote challenge

The challenge is simple: a dozen quotes from various movies. The rules? Identify as many of the movies as you can without using google, imdb, or any other reference besides your brain.

1. "I want that television set turned on right now!"
2. "What if your home... what if your family... what if your dope was on fire?"
3. "If there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say."
4. "In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig."
5. "I had to execute him with my pistol and there was something about it that I didn't like."
6. "He thought that by finishing that notice he could show me he was an honest man. He was always trying to prove something."
7. "I saw a city in the clouds. They were in pain."
8. "Do you consider the eating of oysters to be moral and the eating of snails to be immoral?"
9. "That's the hardest part. Today everything is different. There's no action. I have to wait around like everyone else."
10. "Back where I come from, we have universities, seats of great learning, where men go to become great thinkers."
11. "Doesn't matter what desert it is, it's completely hypothetical."
12. "As long as there's no find, the noble brotherhood will last but when the piles of gold begin to grow... that's when the trouble starts."

On your mark ... get set ... go!

Answers (and the poster that got them):
1. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (Parcher)
2. Breakfast Club (redinger)
3. Ghostbusters (Spanky BananaPants)
4. The Good, the Bad & The Ugly (flixtime)
5. Larence of Arabia (Mondo Kane)
6. Citizen Kane (antennaball)
7. The Empire Strikes Back (redinger)
8. Spartacus (flixtime)
9. Goodfellas (Shannon Nutt)
10. Wizard of Oz (Spanky BananaPants)
11. Blade Runner (Shannon Nutt)
12. Treasure of the Sierra Madres (sundog)

Wrong!

At least, that's not the movie I was thinking of, and the one I was thinking of is older.

I will grant you that #3 is one of the more generic lines.

Actually, I think #3 is from Ghostbusters, by Ernie Hudson. But then again, I've never seen Sam Jackson's Shaft either.

I think #10 is from The Wizard of Oz.

Don't know about the rest of them tho.

Re: The Movie Quote challenge

Woah, a challenge not started by Groucho.

2. "What if your home... what if your family... what if your dope was on fire?"
Breakfast Club

7. "I saw a city in the clouds. They were in pain."
Empire Strikes Back

10. "Back where I come from, we have universities, seats of great learning, where men go to become great thinkers."
Wizard of Oz.

11. "Doesn't matter what desert it is, it's completely hypothetical."

Damn, I know this quote, but I can't place it.

No way! If this line is in Shaft, it's a definite shout-out to the earlier movie.

Yeah. I thought he might sue me for trademark infringement, but what the hell -- I'll just hire me one of them fancy high-priced lawyers.

Your guesses were right, but Spanky BananaPants beat you to #10. You're going to kick yourself when you see the answer to #11.

#9 is from the end of GoodFellas.

Is #11 from the test at the beginning of Blade Runner?

Right.

I'm surprised nobody has gotten #5 yet -- I thought it was a pretty memorable scene.
