House of Wax re-make w/ Elisha Cuthbert and....Paris Hilton?!?!

Okay, thanks to the recent re-make of Dawn of the Dead, I am no longer a major opponent of re-introducing horror classics. However....

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0397065/

It's early and it's IMDB, so everything should be with a grain of salt. Here's hoping Paris is the first victim!

It's a Dark Castle production, so... *makes farting noise*

But casting Hilton really hurts credibility here. I don't care if she nailed a perfect audition, her name will bring the film down.

If GIRL NEXT DOOR proved anything, it's that Cuthbert is perfect eye candy. Hopefully the director will understand that as well.

But hey, DAWN OF THE DEAD went over so well around here, why not this?

Because Dawn of the Dead took the idea of zombies in a mall from the film it was based on and took it in another direction. Instead of having it be a serious horror film with social commentary, plot, and character development; Gunn and Snyder made it a 90 minute action film that was total style over substance. And it somehow worked. It wasn't a great movie by any means, but it was one fun flick to watch. It was also light years better than that Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

As of now, this House of Wax remake has numerous things going against it... along with it being a Dark Castle production and having Paris Hilton starring in it... it also doesn't have the cast and crew that the Dawn of the Dead remake had (Ving Rhames is just a mother ****ing bad ass that you don't mess with). While I do hold my doubts until I see the film, if it's anything like Dark Castle's last productions... then it's going to suck... hard...

Um, yeah. In those Radio Shack commercials, I felt that I could mess with Ving Rhames. And win.

But are you saying Jared Padalecki isn’t as tough as Ving Rhames?

Whoops! That’s my fault. We already have 1,900 threads devoted to DAWN. I shouldn’t steer this one down that path. My apologies.

Dude. Ving Rhames would shove a pack of Radio Shack brand batteries up your ass if you tried to start some shit up with him.

And no... Jared "Macgyver Jr." Padalecki isn't as tough as Ving Rhames.

Nor is Paris Hilton. How the hell she is getting acting gigs in Hollywood is beyond me.

It's a remake in name only really. The story has more in common with HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE than with HOUSE OF WAX.

They dropped the 3-D idea. I'm glad, because the film is going to suck anyway...

This raises an interesting question ... what happens in a no-holds-barred fight between Howie Long and Teri Hatcher, on the one hand, and Ving Rhames and Vanessa Williams, on the other hand, and Alex Rodriguez and Daisy Fuentes on the third hand? I see Teri bowing out of this one early, with Ving and Howie falling next. Vanessa takes out Daisy before Alex can come to her aid, and that leaves the Vanessa versus Alex matchup, which I have to give to Vanessa in 8 rounds.

Gothika, House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts if I'm not mistaken.

Gothika blew chunks, the other two were OK at best.

House of Wax (2005) Trailer looked good

The trailer for the new 'House of Wax' looked really good. Eilsha Cuthbret (the girl from 'Girl Next Door') and Paris Hilton both looked appropriately delicious. And, the movie looked pretty creepy.
Anyone else interested in this one?

It looked... alright. I think it's an interesting concept, but many people are going to be turned off by the fact that Paris Hilton is in it. It really throws out any credibility that the film might have as a serious horror flick and puts it immediately in the "another teen horror flick" genre.

Not gonna see it just because of Paris "Look at me, I'm Paris Hilton" Hilton.

Aside from that, it just has a Wrong Turn feel to it. So that's reason #2 to skip it, or just wait for HBO.

I'll be seeing it since I see all the Dark Castle pictures - I was kinda disappointed they didn't put one out last year. Couldn't really tell for sure from the trailer, but it looks like it's possible Paris Hilton might be a better actress than Tara Reid.
