living dead sequel from 80s

which "return of the living dead" is the one with the half-dog that gets reanimated and runs around in circles in the science warehouse?
(i think this is also the one where they animate the corpse and ask her what the big deal is about brains.)

It is the first one, but the dog doesn't exactly run around. He just lays there panting untim Thom Matthews beats it with a crutch.
