Let There Be Light: possible Biblical movies ...

with the raring success of the Passion of Christ, many other studios will probably follow suit. as Dean Devlin just said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of Hollywood."

which stories from the Bible do you think would make great movies or at least the biggest blockbuster sales?

The she-bears. I'd love to see what happened before and after their brief appearance.

I would like one about the story of David and Goliath; the crap that was King David doesn't count IMO.

Maybe we could have Big Show from WWE play Goliath.

Joking aside, I think it would be neat to have a movie that in some way explores Goliath's origin and how he came to be so tall in a world of normal sized men.

the entire life of david would make for a pretty epic and dramatic film, if done well.

personally, i'd love to see a non-narrative avant-garde film based on the apocalyptic imagery in Daniel and Revelation.

I agree about the life of David. Start with Saul, have the confrontation with Goliath, seducing of Bathsheba, sending Uriah to his death, and repentance to Jonathan.

It would be interesting to see a film based on the preterist interpretation of the Apocalypse(Revelations) where the antichrist was Nero and most of the events concern the fall of Rome.

Most of the biblical stories HAVE been told in some way or another on movies.

How about the story of Isaiah? Or Elijah? They've probably been told in some movie form, but nothing big that I know of - they led interesting lives.

That's exactly what I would have said, too. I also think that a movie about John writing the book of Revelation while exiled on Patmos would amazing.

Also a story about Paul and his differing views depending upon to whom he was writing would be interesting to see.. In the end he could get whipped by all the people he had written to because he told them all different things and all of them were furious at him. Yeah, that'd be awesome...

I thought of something else. A movie based on the Webber musical "Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". There are some nice songs in that one.

What about a movie about talking vegetables that are Christian? Oh wait...

I'd probably stick to the Old Testament for the better story ideas (imo). I think the story around the Tower of Babel could be great, as would the story regardnig the toppling of the walls of Babylon.

Revelation is the "coolest" book in the Bible. You'd need ILM to do some of the effects though...

A movie about Paul would be good...

A movie about King David would be good...we could get Richard Gere to play him and dance around in a diaper - oh, nevermind.

SATAN.
His fall from grace and what is going to happen to him at the end.
If they made this movie it would bring in the MTV crowd.
And after the MTV crowd gets a rude awakining on what SATAN really is all about it ,we won't be seeing no more "devils horn" hand signs from that crowd.
It would bring in also the crowd that saw THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST.

hmmm, that isn't such a bad idea, especially if taken from the fallen angel sort of perspective.

As warped and silly as your conception of the "MTV Crowd" is, I'm with you on the Satan film. At one point I was thinking of adapting "Paradise Lost", but I couldn't think of a way to make the war in Heaven look good.

Guess I'll just stick with my script about a guy suing God over the loss of his tornado-hit house, only to have God take him up on his suit, with Satan as his lawyer.
