Dont' know about this... it seems Streisand is much more maligned than she is "treated the greatest thing to ever walk the earth". I don't know any fans of hers, and it seems like maybe 2 posters in the thread are somewhat defending her. All I really ever hear is people bashing her. This usually happens when a celebrity has a political voice, and isn't afraid of losing potential fans, or the backlash that occurs.

I would like these choices for the fockers:

for the reunions...

al pacino & diane keaton
jack nicholson & karen black

together again & for the jewish guilt...

george segal & mary tyler moore

for sheer shock & acting value...

al pacino & jack nicholson.

What about Jerry Stiller and Al Pacino?

If Al Pacino was in the film, would they shoot their scenes together or edit it to make it seem like they're both in the scene?

I guess that they have signed Hoffman now:

Dustin Hoffman has signed on to play Ben Stiller's dad in "Meet The Fockers," the upcoming sequel to "Meet The Parents," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner and Teri Polo are all reprising their original roles, with Jay Roach returning as the director.

In the sequel Greg Focker (Stiller) and fiancee Pan Byrnes (Polo) have to deal with her uptight parents meeting his laid-back father and mother.

Hoffman and De Niro first appeared together in 1996's "Sleepers."

I'm not really a Bette Midler fan, but she'd actually work in that role, assuming Mrs. Focker is similar to her character in Ruthless People.

As far as Barbra Streisand is concerned, casting her would be a disaster. Not because she couldn't play the role(I think she'd do fine), but simply due to the fact that so many people in this country can't stand the woman. You don't wanna alienate a significant portion of the moviegoing public.

Why in the world would they wan't to cast Barbara Streisand if the role requires her to be laid back?

So what you, and most others, really mean is that she is a Liberal elitest whore

I'm not much of a babs fan but I could see it working..maybe....but probably not. i'd rather see either Mary Tyler Moore or Lily Tomlin - both of whom were fantastic in Flirting With Disaster (also starring Ben Stiller).

Remember, early in her career, she was very good in comedies. What's Up Doc, etc... I think IF DONE RIGHT, she could pull off a great job of the mom...

I can't stand Barbara Streisand either but I am hard pressed to come up with anyone else who would be a better mother Focker.

It has nothing to due with being on the "left" or on the "right" It has to due with constantly using your celeberity position to comment on causes and get involved heavily in politics as Streisand has.

I really find it hard to seperate the person and the character.

Yes, god forbid anyone should be passionate about causes or try to make changes just because they are in a position to do so.....BASTARDS ALL OF THEM!!!!!! How dare they!!!!!!!*

*and I in know way endorse anything Streisand does, but this kind of hatred towards impassioned celebrities is really kind of strange....I just don't get it...it's fine if you don't agree with them, but why hate them for trying to make the world a better place - in their eyes of course....I don't get that....and it's an attitude almost exclusively reserved for 'lefties.' How convenient.

Oh man.. Walken would be saweet in that part!...i just love watching that guy act.. his sick weirdness just has some kind of a magnetic pull.

how about Walken and Lily Tomlin? Tomlin is just phenotypically perfect to play his mom....and she's great in those kind of roles. I do think Hoffman would be a fine choice too though....

I say Jerry Stiller and I'll second Lily Tomlin, she's great. A great physical comedy actress...rivaled Carrey in her earlier career.

The best person to play Mrs. Focker would be Mike Myers as the "Coffee Talk" lady from SNL.
