In the Extended Two Towers it is established that Merry and Pippin have grown in size (and presumably strength.) This is the explanation in the book on why they're actually able to do some damage on the battlefield.
If you read the TT then you will know why Merry and Pippin appear to have grown in size. They drank some of the magical water from Treebeard and it made them grow taller
Thoughts?

Where does Shelob stuck its sting when it attacks Frodo? If it's on Frodo's chest, shouldn't Frodo would be all right since he has Bilbo's armor?

this has been answered in length elsewhere, but in the book, he gets stabbed in the neck, so the mithril would NOT protect him there.
however, in the movie, it appears to sting him lower, perhaps in the leg.

When the are back in the tavern, and they are having their drinks, Frodo's left hand is on the table, with his fingers tucked under. You can see the enlarged knuckle and the the scar.
I paid attention to it when I saw it the second time. Its (not) there.
