DVD Talk Ultimate Edition
PBS had a documentary called "The Perilous Fight:America's WWII in Color" that had almost 4 hours of documentary footage in color. It's available on DVD. Not really a "movie" though.

GWTW ain't a war movie. It's a love story. Most of the older war movies were b/w because they used extensive stock footage of real combat, which was mostly b/w. In fact, I've seen many instances of color footage being converted to fit in.
An early example of color is Fighter Squadron, and another is Flying Leathernecks, both good movies. The latter part of Task Force is, I think I recall, in color.

Wasn't Audie Murphy's autobiographical film (To Hell & Back?) in color?

Yep, To Hell & Back was in color.
Another thing to remember about these older war films, along with the stock footage issue, many of these are low budget B movies. While color had been around for a long time, many low budget movies continued to be filmed in B&W well into the 60's just to save on cost. Not just war films, but westerns, horror, sci-fi... just about anything that was meant to be shown with 7 other films at a Saturday matinee.
