Meet the parents is overrated, same with raging bull. He's definitely a force though!
I liked 15 Minutes, Raging Bull is a great movie. Also don't forget The Deer Hunter, The Mission. I agree that Meet the Parents is overrated. With Pacino you can't leave out Dog day afternoon or And Justice for All. Both have made great movies, it's really just a matter of opinion. I like DeNiro, might be my favorite actor ever. But both actors have choosen bad roles in bad movies, that's always going to happen no matter how good an actor is.

In what universe is "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" quoted more often than "You talkin' to me?" (Aside from The Sopranos, I mean.)

No kidding - that was his dumbest point. Even "Say hello to my little friend" or "HOO-HA" are much bigger Pacino catch-phrases than the GF3 one, but they still don't come close to "You talkin' to me?"

I have to go back in time, since I don't think either of them has been really great for many years, but I pick Al Pacino, since at their peak (20 years ago), I preferred his acting to Deniro's.

I vote De Niro simply because of Midnight Run. I've never seen Pacino achieve the kind of understated, smooth performance and comedic timing De Niro showed in that movie.

They are both in my top five (with Jack at #1), but I have to go with Bobby D. They are both method actors, but to me, De Niro is WAY more believable in his roles than Pacino (who is the man). I mean this guy played, convincingly, a wacked out anti-hero as Travis Bickle, a washed-up and eventually overweight boxer, a struggling stand-up comedian, and several Italian characters (many that are Mafia related) despite the fact that he's more Irish than anything. Who said Pacino had more range? Somebody mentioned that he was underrated for his work in Jackie Brown, but I'd argue that he is just as underrated for his work in Cape Fear and The Fan. Pacino is excellent, but to me he just can't do it like De Niro...

OMG...DeNiro in my book:

Cape Fear
Awakenings
Godfather 2
Raging Bull
Taxi Driver
Analyze That

Incredible performances in all. And his diversity is fabulous.

Pacino, but only slightly. I think his roles combined from the Godfathers and Scarface throw him over.

They both are very good, but sometimes I can't stand Al Pacino yelling in his movies.

So, Robert De Niro for me, please.

My two favorite actors.
I think they are both 2 of the best actors.
Gun to my head, I'd choose De Niro.

Both are great dramatic actors but De Niro is a better comedic actor.

Midnight Run.

Movies starring De Niro that I have seen: Mean Streets, Godfather Part II, Last Tycoon, Taxi Driver( favorite movie of all time), Deer Hunter, Once Upon A Time in America, Midnight Run, Bronx Tale, Casino, The Fan, Sleepers, Ronin, Men of Honor, Meet the Parents, and Heat

Movies starring Pacino that I have seen: Godfather I, II, and III, Scarface, Heat, Scent of a Woman, Insomnia, Devil's Advocate, Any Given Sunday

As you see, I haven't seen much of Pacino's work, but the ones I have seen were very good. The most memorable ones being The Godfather Trilogy, especially the second one for which he deserved the oscar. Scarface was also good and Pacino should've at least deserved a nod for Best Actor.

Now De Niro, he's my favorite actor of all time. I totally digged his performance as Travis Bickle and young Vito Corleone, but I still haven't seen Raging Bull. He deserved the oscar for Taxi Driver, but the oscars were totally biased that year. Rocky as best picture, come on! His last decent movie was Men of Honor, IMO. Although in some scenes, he was on and off.

When these two icons clashed in Heat, I was blown away by the way they tried to out do each other. But when it came to that scene in the coffee shop, it was even until Pacino started yelling. It went against his character. I haven't seen the movie in over four years, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

In my opinion, De Niro is better by an inch.

De Niro. Pacino should have accepted Coppola's offer to star in Apocalypse Now, but Sheen did just excellent.

Since this was bumped, I'll cast my vote for De Niro..

Mean Streets
The Godfather II
Taxi Driver
The Deer Hunter
Raging Bull
The King of Comedy
Once Upon a Time in America
Brazil
The Untouchables
Goodfellas
Cape Fear
A Bronx Tale
Casino
Heat
Sleepers
Jackie Brown
Ronin

...as much as I love Pacino, it's hard to dismiss that filmography.

In his prime, before he started screaming in every movie, Pacino. That's not to say that DeNiro isn't past his prime doing stupid comedy movies.

Al was amazing in Scarecrow, and Dog Day Afternoon, as well....mostly prime 1970's, he kind of petered out in the 80's (except for Scarface) DeNiro kept his streak going longer but was also in a lot more turkeys later on. (he also benefiteed from being Scorcese's muse....if Al was Marty's preferred actor and had starred in Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Mean Streets etc....maybe Al would win this in a landslide...) as it is i give it to Al but just barely.

Some actors get better with age, and they're named Morgan Freeman. Most actors don't get better, they get worse. Bob and Al are no exception, but I don't hold that against them.

Robert DeNiro is my favorite actor of all-time, and Al Pacino is my third favorite actor of all-time. So I pick DeNiro.
