Nope, I saw it in the theater as well.

I could make a laundry list of movies I saw in the 80's and 90's that most would be ashamed of, or that later became "cult" flicks, but I'll just cover some highlights.

Cloak and Dagger (my father took me to this)
Beat Street (I liked it much more than Breakin', and bought the soundtrack record for $1.50 after seeing it)
Ice Pirates (With my father, I think my mother wanted some time with her friends)
Rad! (we arrived too late for the Care Bears movie, so we saw this instead)
King Kong Lives (big family outing)
Howard the Duck (saw it opening day with my father, and he loved it so much, he took my mother and I back to see it again the next day)
Leonard Part 6 (my mother really liked Cosby)
Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (with my father, he's liked some strange movies)
Police Academy 6: City Under Siege (the 1st PA movie my parents would let me see)
Lords of the Deep (father picked me up at my bus stop to see it)
Hudson Hawk (saw it one of the days my mother had errands to run, and dropped me at a theater)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (it had Pee-Wee, I had to see it!)
Showgirls (opening day, a nearly full theater)
Battlefield Earth (first showing opening day, just to see how bad it was)

You know, writing out this reply really made me think of all the movies my father took me to, and, I suppose, how cool it was for him to do so. He'd pick me up at my school bus stop many times and we'd just go see one, usually arriving late, but still. He'd even cave in to my whining to see 2 or 3 at a time.

I actually worked on MST3K: THE MOVIE when it opened. I interned for Gramercy, and had to escort Mike, Trace, and Kevin (and their bitch-ass wives) around for a week as they did press appearances in Minnesota. “Crow” even ended up hanging out in my house overnight in a cardboard box. I swear to God I didn’t take him out and play with him…

I ended up seeing the film about 5-6 times over the course of a month. Loved the show, loved the movie. I was deeply sad to see it tank due to Gramercy’s indifference outside of MN.

Same with BRAIN CANDY. But now I have a clear picture why Paramount let that die.

Here’s my contribution: WOMAN, THOU ART LOOSED

Ok, I think the rules are long gone but I have seen several of the ones listed here. Some of these have already been named but some are new:

Ernest Goes to Camp - I coerced a friend of mine to go see it with me, he wouldn't go to a movie with me again for months.
Prince of Darkness
They Live
Street Fighter - the same friend mentioned above got me to go with him to this, I told him it was payback.
UHF
Ghoulies - a friend's dad decided to treat some of us kids & took us, he thought it was The Goonies. Boy, was he surprised when he realized he took us to such a POS movie.
Wing Commander - years later, the friends re-unite and continue to fulfill their tendency to see bad movies together.
Hudson Hawk - hated it then, not so much now.
Song of the South - does a drive-in count? I saw this during a re-release many many years ago at a backwoods drive-in with my uncle's family.

Iron Giant - saw it on a weekend where I squeezed in 5 features in 2 days at the local Tinseltown.
Cat's Eye - I thought "Stephen King, how bad could it be" yikes

Forgot one - The Gate - I was a sucker for any kind of "horror" movie

not sure if people are still following the original game plan, but I saw
"Timerider: The Adventures of Lyle Swan" , "Spacehunter", "Treasure of the Four Crowns" (3-D), "Time Bandits", "Runaway", "Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise", "Police Academy III: Citizens on Patrol", some other winners, but more independent and rarer when it first came out were...

"Kids" which was playing in 38 theaters in the nation (I caught in Philadelphia) and
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" playing in 3 before it blew up (I caught in Times Square, NYC)

edit: also saw "The Dark Crystal", "Red Dawn", "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins", "Sheena", "The Terminator", "Yor: Hunter from the Future (or something like that)", "Can't Buy Me Love", "Krull", "Firefox"

I can't remember if repertory showings were excluded or not ... if they're allowed, I've seen my share of fairly rarely screened things, like Peeping Tom, the restored A Star is Born (Judy Garland version), The Fearless Vampire Killers (in 70mm), and a 70mm print of My Fair Lady with color so faded that everything looked light purple

Also Napoleon (1927) with Carmine Coppola conducting a full orchestra.

I have seen at least a couple of the ones others have listed (Altered States for one) and I'm going to take that as being close enough to continue with some that I don't think anyone has mentioned:

She Hate Me
Sunshine State
Tuck Everlasting
The Anniversary Party
Full Frontal
Funny Bones
The Hidden (Kyle MacLachlan)
Stealing Harvard
Big Trouble
Lianna

Only some of these were horrible. I'm sure I could think of more.

I've seen (oh god - help me) It's Pat in the theaters. I think this makes me one of like 10 people who have seen this film, let alone in the theater.

May god have mercy on my soul.

When I was taking my future wife to the movies every week, of course we ended up seeing a lot of serious crap.
Toys - Still the worst movie I have ever seen.
Strike it Rich - With Molly Ringwald.
The Sicilian - With Christopher Lambert
The Deceivers - With Pierce Brosnan
Parents - With Randy Quaid.
Eye of the Beholder - With the worst major actress EVER, Ashley Judd.

Coppola's 4-Hour release of Abel Gance's 1927 silent masterpiece —

— in a tiny art house on Balboa Island (Orange County, CA) and it positively blew me away. I have never had 4 hours go by so quickly, and wait eagerly for the full 5 hour 40 minute restoration which will be one of those few titles I will drop big money to own. It just galls me that Australia has the only known version on DVD.

I guess the rules are gone but I would truly like to know if any one here saw Summer Job (came out around 1990 or 91) in the theatre? It was a bad teen-age sex film that was still trying to hold onto the 80's.

I think my friend & I were one of 20 people that actually saw this in theaters.
