Meh. Nothing special or maybe I just didn't get it. Oh well. Good thing I saw it in a matinee. And that Gogo girl is fuuuugly. Uma looked good in that Crazy 88 fight though.

cliff notes?

Here's what I gathered from it

-He likes Asian cinema but isn't cocky about it.
-Tarantino knows his shit, and the movie is likeable w/o extensive knowledge of Chop Sockey cinema. There was Backlash prior to KBs release, from QTs typical detractors.
-CTHD is NOT a good model for 'asian' cinema, because it is an exception, and exceptional.
-Elle Drivers brief scene is a cinematic masterpiece.
-"Borrowing" != hack film making, and is encouraged by legendary directors.
-Despite it's delectable sensual overload of ultramegahardcore style equivalent to sex with a top tier supermodel, it's still incomplete. Total judgement to be withheld until Vol. 2.
-Soundtrack kicks much ass.

And nice review Eric

To each their own. Gogo's actress is cute on occasions but I usually can't get past the nose - otherwise she's.. cute. Most people get their rocks off on the fact that this movie entertained them immensly and was surprisingly different (taking elements from everything old and making something new is no easy task I'm sure.)
