Friday's (9/12/03) Box Office.

1 ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO (3,282) $9,400,000 $2,864
2 MATCHSTICK MEN (2,711) $4,100,000 $1,512
3 CABIN FEVER (2,087) $3,100,000 $1,485
4 DICKIE ROBERTS: FORMER CHILD STAR (2,083) $1,376,000 $661
5 PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN (2,029) $1,137,000 $560
6 FREAKY FRIDAY (2,567) $943,000 $367
7 JEEPERS CREEPERS 2 (2,784) $810,000 $291
8 S.W.A.T. (2,062) $782,000 $379
9 OPEN RANGE (2,063) $760,000 $368
10 SEABISCUIT (2,102) $713,000 $339
11 FREDDY VS. JASON (1,577) $371,000 $235
12 THE ORDER (1,975) $347,000 $176
- LOST IN TRANSLATION (23) $257,997 $11,217

Title - # of theaters - Gross for Friday - Average per theater.

(Note: 1 - 12 are estimates, but Friday estimates are pretty much always really accurate, it's just sunday predictions that seem to be off. Lost in Translation's gross is from actual figures.)

Awesome to see OUaTiM doing that well, I for one loved the movie, was a little worried since the theater was, well, empty, should make around $22m for the weekend (have a feeling it'll drop on Saturday). Matchstick Men is doing "okay" and will likely do better off word of mouth than the polarizing OUaTiM. Cabin Fever opened strong considering the kind of movie it is and how few ads I've seen - but then I'm sure other people have been hyping it for a while. Dickie Roberts did better than I thought it would, but still pretty badly. Pirates of the Caribbean is still holding up pretty well, good. The big winner, though, seems to be Lost in Translation which looks amped to make an average $32,000+ per theater for the weekend, which I think is pretty damn good...

Nice to see Once Upon a Time in Mexico do well. I really wanted to see it until i read some of the comments on this forum though. I guess we'll see

Don't understand the small hype around Cabin Fever.

And go Pirates

Not bad for UOATIM, better than what I would of thought with the September release. The rest seems par for the course.

I can't wait 'til Lost in Translation opens up in more theatres.

Good to see Matchstick Men doing relatively well also, it's a great film.

Hopefully Matchstick Men will have good word of mouth, as it's a very good film. Got to love the love for Pirates of the Caribbean.
