the Vatican on Mel's "Passion" --Thumbs UP!
According to http://www.drudgereport.com/mattmg.htm
An influential Vatican cardinal is about to endorse Mel Gibson's PASSION, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
The controversial Mel Gibson-directed drama about the last 12 hours of the life of Jesus Christ will be praised -- unconditionally -- by Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos, the prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy, who speaks for the Vatican on issues of faith.
The endorsement may pit the Vatican against the Anti-Defamation League, which expressed concerns that scenes depicting Jesus' crucifixion at the hands of Jews and others will fuel anti-Semitism.
“Gibson’s artistic choices make the film faithful to the meaning of the Gospels, as understood by the Church,” says Cardinal Hoyos in an interview set for release in Italy.

What's all the controversy about? If you read the Bible, you see it was the Jews who were ultimately to blame. Yes, the Romans did the actual crucifying, but Pilot asked them, almost begged them to spare Christ. They chose the murder. Now, you can't really BLAME the Jews; it was prophecies, after all. It's not like they had a choice. It was going to happen, it was the reason he came.
But to say the Jews had nothing to do with it is just ignorant. Now, I'm sure if you ask any Jew, today, they probably wouldn't have wanted him dead. Just like most Germans you ask don't like Hitler or Nazis.
It wouldn't' be a historical representation if they had a bunch of Romans demanding he be killed and Jesus being a pretty, white boy.

Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos is obviously losing it. The guy gave Pootie Tang three stars!
