Spoiler:
untill the end of the movie, we don't know who this man is, and at the begining are led to believe that it is Tom Hank's character and not Ryan

That simple little scene of his laying down to bed, looking quite content. That was when I really felt the accumulation of everything that had gone on before.
That's one of my favorites too. But am I wrong in understanding that
Spoiler:
he lays down and dies at the end?
I hadn't seen the movie until recently, and was completly blown away by it.

Also the end of Boyz 'n the Hood was excellent. The last twenty minutes had me really, really worked up.

It's been several years since I've seen it, but that was my understanding of the scene.
Spoiler:
I recall early on, the doctors saying that because of the fluid in his head, if he laid down horizontally he would die. And in the final scene he takes the mound of pillows that kept his head upright and laid them flat. Meaning that he would die as he went to sleep

Am I remembering correctly? Even if I'm not, I vividly remember losing control of my composure during that last shot.

Old Yeller
Shane

we all know how those went..

Bambi
Spoiler:
Come on now.. We all know a few kids were crushed to see momma get shot..

Spoiler:
Kid crying over his father.. this crushed me when I saw it as a kid on the big screen..

Road Warror
Spoiler:
any time a dog gets shot.. sniff....

Boogie Nights
Spoiler:
the firecracker scene.. just for over all emotional tension

Showgirls (ok I'm sort of joking)
Spoiler:
Still, on some level, seeing the good girl from saved by the bell not only naked but a stripper!! An emotional moment for many I'm sure. heh

In Iphigenia when

Iphigenia finally accepts her fate of certain and immediate death and stops crying and you see in Agamemnon's expression as he looks at her, his first born daughter, the futility but necessity of it all, the knowledge that she will die and the fact that he led her to it

I hope this puppy makes it to DVD some day, gotta remember to pick up a box o kleenex at the same time :sniffle:

"The Color of Paradise" -- I rarely cry while watching movies but the scene of Mohammad talking with the carpenter about his own blindness really got to me. Very touching! BTW, it's established from the beginning that Mohammad is blind so no spoiler there.

"Seven", when Brad Pitt gets the box (at the end).

"Sophie's Choice", when Sophie has to choose. You know....

"Edward Scissorhands": when Kim (Winona Ryder) tells Edward to hold her and he says "I can't".

"Anywhere But Here": the ending.

"Regarding Henry", the confrontation between Ford and Bening when he tells her "he knows".

"Marvin's Room", the conversation at the end between Keaton and Streep.

"Kramer vs. Kramer", when Streep tells Hoffman she changed her mind (at the end).

"One True Thing". The whole damn film. Gets me every time.

Doctor Zhivago.

If you don't know which part I mean, you've probably never seen it.

Star Trek II
Spoiler:
When Kirk and Spock are separated by the glass and give each other the "live long and prosper" hand touch through the glass as Spock dies.

I cry like a baby every time I see it, and I'm not even a 'trekkie'.

The ending to Without A Trace gets me every time.

Holden's confession to Alyssa in Chasing Amy.

The ending to The Natural -- particularly due to Randy Newman's score.

I don't know about MOST emotional, but

L.I.E.

Spoiler:
When Big John is shot by his live in jealous lover. Some people may think I am sick, but even though he loved young boys I still wanted him to live for Howie because he had no one. And really Big John didn't either. Maybe this is why it didn't get a wide release? Sympathy for a sick person?

The Color Purple

Spoiler:
The scene where Celie's reunited with her sister... and finally gets to hold her children. When her son says "Mama...mama..." I turn into a quivering pile of Jell-O.

Maybe it's because I was adopted but it always will get to me.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Citizen Kane.

Spoiler:
My wife watched the film with me when we were first dating and said, "I don't get it. So it was his sled. What's the Big Deal!" Surprisingly, I still married her.

the ending of Leon the Professional

when Leon is shot and hands the grenade to Oldman..."this...is from...Mathilda..." followed by her walking away, the score at this point is too powerful

Gets me every damn time.
I would've said that if I came in to give a serious answer.
