An easy way is to have the 3rd and 4th movies be "visions" for Ripley in deep sleep and restart after Aliens.
Some of that is serious fan-fiction, the space jockey mask and the Weyland-Yutani location is basically Elysium's hanger bay.

Wasn't that one of the original ideas for Alien Resurrection? I seem to recall they wanted Ripley in a cryo-induced coma and that would be used to explain that Alien 3 was all a bad dream.

I saw on Michael Biehn's FB feed that there's a petition or some shit to get him to be in the next film if it gets made. They show some concept artwork, I think it's from Neill, that shows him all scarred up, with a dead eye.

Yeah. It shows a Ripley and Hicks.
Biehn is sorely underused. That guy is a great fucking actor. Think the last time he was awesome was Planet Terror and then before that what?....some movie in the 1990s? Such a damn good actor.

What was the last movie in the 1990s where he was awesome? Cuz there was a huge gap between whatever flick that was and Planet Terror.

Re: Alien 5 - News, rumors, etc.
A little over a month ago, District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp showed off some insanely cool concept art he made for a new Alien movie. It’s great stuff that’s exciting to consider, but it was unofficial material so that left us wondering, did he just do all of it for fun or was there ever a time when he was in the running to direct a new installment of the franchise?
While out promoting his third feature, Chappie, I got the opportunity to get a little more clarification on the situation. Check out what Blomkamp told me when I asked him why he made that concept art to begin with:
“There was a reason. I wanted to make that film. I still may make that film. [Laughs] It may happen. But I did it on my own time. Like when Chappie was winding down in post and I had available time, I started to work on it. It was also from talking to Sigourney [Weaver] during the making of this. I mean, I asked her about Alien all the time. Alien and Aliens are my favorite films. So I genuinely wanted to make that film, I came up with the story, I came up with way more art than I put out and I never officially spoke to Fox about it, but Fox wanted to make it. So, I kind of touched on it and I didn’t know what to do, and I didn’t know if I was just gonna go leave directing for a whole bunch of time and then I was like, ‘I might as well put some art out.’ But I may make it. I don’t know. That’s where it stands.”
There you have it. Blomkamp really could wind bringing the concept art to screen in his very own Alien movie. Clearly nothing is official, but Blomkamp is certainly very interested and it seems as though the studio may be as well, and even at this very early, uncertain stage, I’m already immensely more excited for it than the Prometheus sequel.

AVP is actually pretty entertaining, despite some missed opportunities. However, AVP:R is a master class in how not to make a movie.

Though I was on the Anderson-hating bandwagon in my even more pretentious years, I've come around to AVP. It's still no masterpiece and doesn't live up to its potential, but it's a decent monster mash flick. AVP-R, however, is terrible in ways I did know a film could be terrible.

Re: Alien 5 - News, rumors, etc.
I always found District 9 to be grossly overrated. I do appreciate the effects work achieved on what is a relatively miniscule budget. However, although the premise is a good one, the execution was poor. The actual movie lacks focus (is it found footage or a conventional movie?), the narrative doesn't hold up to any critical thought (even without their weapons, that only answer to them, the aliens can kill a human with a single blow one minute and then are easily killed by knife wielding humans the next), and it finally just devolves into a third person shooter at the end.
That said, I liked the sketches for an Alien sequel and wouldn't mind seeing him take a stab at it. Besides, as previously stated, it can't be anywhere near as bad as AVP:R or its prettier-yet-equally-stupid sister, Prometheus.
