Alien 5 (D: Blomkamp) S: Weaver
Today's Dark Horizons has a scoop that is originally from BBC1, and it's good news to those who've been hoping something can be done to salvage the ALIEN film franchise. According to Horizons source, ALIENS writer/director James Cameron is still contemplating breathing life into a fifth ALIEN film.
"We're looking at doing another one," Cameron is quoted as saying to the BBC. "Something similiar to what we did with ALIENS. A bunch of great characters, and of course Sigourney. I've even discussed the possibility of putting him [Arnold Schwarzenegger] into the ALIEN movie."
Cameron further cemented his interest in returning to deep space by also saying that he wasn't a fan of David Fincher's ALIEN 3. "I couldn't stand ALIEN 3 - how they could just go in there and kill off all these great characters we introduced in aliens, and the correlation between mother and daughter. It stunk, but hopefully I'll get a chance to rectify all that," said the TITANIC director.
And what did Cameron think of TERMINATOR 3, Jonathan Mostow's follow-up to T2? "In one word : Great. There was a small part of me that hoped it wasn't good - but another part of me hope'd it succeeded. And it did."
Cameron also talked about what he might have done if he had directed T3, which you can read by checking Dark Horizons.

If it were any other director I would just roll my eyes and not even bother to post. Even though I don't think Cameron is a movie god, he is a good director and has a knack for making a great film out of a seemingly preposterous idea (Piranha 2 excluded ). I hope he follows through (which he doesn't have a good track record of doing).
We'll see if this actually happens. Odds are against, I'd say.

Arnold would over shadow Sigourney in a series where she is suppose to be the big hero.
bad idea... unless you are making a Alien VS terminator.. which woulc never be logical with the characters.

Surprised to hear Cameron's comments on Terminator 3. . .I hope he goes for Alien 5. Not sure about Arnold's potential presence in that movie, but regardless I know it will be good as long as Cameron's on it.

and they could have another Bishop unit, and it would really blur the lines between terminator and aliens since Lance Henriksen was in both

Cameron has never seemed to like the Alien vs Predator idea, and for that matter Alien vs Terminator so I doubt he has a crossover in mind. If any director knows how to use Ahnold, it's Cameron so...more power to him. I'd love to see this on screen. I doubt Cameron would make Sigourney play second banana to Ahnold if this did come about. Instead...I think we'd have too behemoths...Ripley and Ahnold...and I think Cameron is more than capable of making something like that work. Look at Aliens...he made Sigourney one tough woman, I don't think he'd slight her.

Early drafts of Aliens had a Cyberdyne systems logo on Bishop or "Made by Cyberdyne" but they dropped that just so us fanboys wouldn't speculate....if anything Arnold would come in as a Marine or something.

Cameron has said that the Alien vs Predator movie is a horrible idea and will basically be the nail in the coffin for both franchises. With Paul Anderson at the helm I tend to agree. It looks to be a done deal though. The A vs P movie is set to begin shooting in October.
