Wrong/Worse use of Music

What do you think is the worse or the wrong use of a song, or just music in a film or trailer?

I would say the one that bugs me the most was the trailer for 8 Seconds featuring Burning Inside by Ministry. I mean WTF? Ministry for a movie that a bunch of Bubbas are going to be interested in.

I would also include Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The whole soundtrack is horrible and the damn use of Raindrops Keeo Fallng on My Head. Damn you Burt Bacharat!!

I don't know about "wrong use", but I'm getting real tired of hearing Van Morrison in what seems like every romantic DVD my wife makes me set through. Nothing against Van, I just think movies need to be more open to other artists.

Without a doubt, You've Got Mail , the only question I had after watching this movie was whether I hated the music because the movie was so bad or vice versa.

I hated that U2 song at the end of GONY the first time I saw it, but it has seemed less obtrusive the last 2 times, possibly to point where I might like it.

I guess it was over the credits so it wasn't THAT bad, but that wank song at the end of Matrix 1 was poop.

However, the WORST for me is the oh-so-stylish-and-mtv-hip use of Ass Mouth in Shrek.. TWICE.

On the other side of the fence, that song in the opening is the craziest most memorable pieces of film score for me in a while.. good stuff.

The blaring techno music for the Event Horizon was very out of place and mood-killing for everything that came before it.

Also, maybe this worked in the 80s, but the intrusive rock and roll soundtrack for Manhunter felt way out of place.

Thought of another:

Beverly Hills Cop, that synth track I'm sure was great in 1984, but having recently seen it in the theater, it is laughably bad.

I didn't really think any of the music from Ravenous worked at all. It just didn't send out the right vibe.

I didn't see Manhunter until last year, but I thought the music worked very well, esp Inna Gadda Da Vida over the end sequence.

Yes,that was a big complaint of mine. They used music with electronics for a film set in the late 1800's.
They also played current music in "A Knights Tale".
God,i hate that !

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the use anachronistic music almost a Scorsese trademark? I thought that the music at the beginning of GONY was very well done, personally.

I haven't seen Last Temptation, but do think it's kind of odd that Peter Gabriel did the score for it. SOmetimes this style works, and sometimes it doesn't.

I think the music scene in Cobra was awful.

Interesting. I found that the music perfectly contrasted what was occuring on screen.

In my opinion, the entire score to Red Dragon was so grating that it pulled me out of the movie on numerous occasions.

Without a doubt The Transporter

I watched this movie last night and throughout the entire movie I kept thinking: who on earth picked the music for this film? Didn't fit the mood, feel, or the location of the film at all.

I actually enjoyed the music in Ravenous . I thought it added a lot to the movie.

Wrong:

HULK...there should've been more kick ass music. Music to pump one up especially when Hulk was on screen.

Star Wars Franchise(CERTAIN SCENES)...There's music in every scene!!! Lucas needs to learn how to do some scenes without music. M Knight Whatshisface knows how NOT to use music or at least QUIET music in some scenes.

That's exactly right, it was a perfect contrast for the movie. While I enjoyed the movie very much, however, I did not feel that it quite reached the level of presence to warrant that contrast. I could see what they were trying to do, I just didn't feel that the groundwork was sufficiently laid to back it up.

there was a couple of scenes in Boondock Saints, and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels I didn't care for the music

specifically when Willem Dafoe's character is introduced and they play that really loud rock music, so loud in fact you can't hear any dialogue, not to mention it sticks out and draws attention to itself

almost the same thing was done in lock stock, I forget for which scene though

The Alan Parsons Project score from 1985's Ladyhawke. &nbsp Great movie, horrible soundtrack.

That's what I figured. Several of the people who I have recommended it to said they liked the movie but not the music. Thanks for the explanation.
