I'm not saying there aren't other movies to look forward to but these two trilogies really sweep you up into their world. And I'm really looking forward to seeing Revolutions and ROTK its just sad that there's no more Rings movies after this year or Matrix.

While I'm counting the days till ROTK, and hope that filmakers
will be able to duplicate the passion that Peter Jackson put
into LOTR trilogy in other projects.
But the Matrix hasn't really done it for me (It's good, don't get me
wrong). I'll pass judgement until I see the conclusion, but I
wouldn't say that it's had the impact like LOTR does on cinema.
But Revolutions could prove me wrong...

Naw not really... I figure once they're done I can escape into a complete realm... well actually that's more so for LOTR.. A world that lives, breaths, and is full - a good 10 hours worth on top of that .
As for the Matrix - I don't think I'll be watching the original very much (I find that movie incredibly boring.) but Reloaded was a blast and I hope Revolutions will be as well. 2 outta 3 ain't bad.

Matrix.
I'm in the middle for LOTR, they've so far been great movies but I guess I'm just not geek enough to really go crazy for them..
As for next year, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabahn will blow both of them out of the water. (Maybe I am geek enough!)..

Why should I feel sad? I mean, when it is about the movies I love, there is no end to that. I still can recall it, see it over and over again. Keep it fresh in my mind.

Nope
I still see "The Matrix" when the Matrix 2 and 3 come I will see tham a couple hundred times each. Only the movie Theaters are ending the run and the 3rd isn't even out yet, BTW what beer are you crying into?
If you hold your breath till 2005 you can watch Indiana Jones with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery as dad in the 4th installment, and rebuy a big box of 5 discs all over again. Are we having fun yet?

I'm a little sad. Matrix and to a lesser extent LOTR have been pretty large movie events that i've looked forward to for quite some time and built up quite an anticipation for. Harry Potter doesn't interest me at all (saw both, not in theaters though). The last Bond film was a snooze. Star Wars is crap. I don't know, for me the only film i'm looking forward to is Spider-Man 2.

ugh...
how about just rejoicing at the prospect of seeing some original films? Why does everything worthwhile to most people have to be in sequel form.
LOTR is Absolutely Incredible, I think it is moviemaking on a scale and depth that is so rarely (if ever) seen. And yes, I would be overjoyed to see Peter Jackson and Iam Mckellen and (if possible) Ian Holm do a HOBBIT movie. Not gonna hold my breath though.
as for Matrix...
well Matrix is GREAT........
......For me to poop on!

What do you mean to a lesser extent? The LOTR films have both larger domestic and worldwide boxoffice than either of the Matrix films.

I get awful feelings of Episode 1 when I think of the Matrix movies. I can't wait to hear more long-winded mindless babble written by a sex-changing freak. Woofreakinghoo.
I just personally don't enjoy the Matrix movies. The first one was spoiled for me before seeing it but I still thought I would enjoy it somewhat.... I love cheesy movies, no thinking-involved summer blockbuster movies, SLOW movies, old movies, comedies, overly-melodramatic dramas, anything. But I hate The Matrix.
I'll be glad to hear people stop talking about it.
I did enjoy the Anamatrix dvd and purchased it along with the soundtrack though.

I will be sad in that these are the only two genre series that continue to dazzle IMO. After these, we will still have to wait about two years for the new Star Wars, and that has started to decline so much it doesn't give me much of a rush. I basically want to see III so the whole series will finally draw to a close.
Star Trek seems to have died, and while I love the Harry Potter movies, the new ones will most likely seem different without Chris Colombus at the helm.

Sure I'll be a bit sad when all is said is done finally. . .but then again, who could have foreseen The Matrix in 1999 and the beginnings of a trilogy? Very few. . .so I'm always looking forward to new and original films.
I mean who knows, they may be the next big thing for me personally.
