Carrie Sucked (Sure to have Spoilers)

Do you like Carrie, I thought it totally sucked the acting was really bad for the most part, story weak, How many times did I hear the pycho sound-effect??, very dissapointed. Travolta was HORrible. Ugh. Worst King movie EVEr.

I guess you can't pick 2 (I thought it said I could) anyways ignore the dates just pick sucked, loved, or okay.

Loved it when it came out, now I guess I think it's just ok, but with a couple of scenes I really enjoy (especially the christ part, always cracks me up).

You hated this Depalma classic and Linklater's Waking Life? I'm rendered speechless, your affinity for Darko notwithstanding.

You don't know much about acting, do you? Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie were nominated for Oscars for their performances. Spacek gave an excellent understated performance as the shy, mistreated Carrie White. Spacek has been nominated numerous times and won for "Coal Miner's Daughter".

The supporting cast of Amy Irving and Betty Buckley gave good performances as well.

I thought the acting was great all around, and Piper Laurie as Carrie's mom is still scary after all these years. I regard it as one of the best adaptations of King's work.

Honk!

I suppose this thread is simply part of the "I'm so cool" trend to pick a movie that in general has received positive critical and popular reaction over the years and crap on it.

And yes, of course everyone can express their opinion, and yes, I'm sure there are people who did not like this movie, but even the detractors have have praised the acting level in this film - so when someone says the acting "sucked", I'm unable to give any weight to the rest of the comments.

If you think Carrie is the worst Steven King movie ever, you haven't seen very many Steven King movies.

Salem's Lot and Tommyknockers come to mind. I thought Carrie was good, but it needed more of the destruction that was in the T.V. movie.

Just because the Academy likes the performance, it doesn't mean the viewer will like it. The Academy has liked many movies over the years that I think were crap. Its totally up to the viewer.

Loved Carrie... and I've hated every other Stephen King adaptation ever produced.

Kubrick's The Shining is excluded, because it's hardly a Stephen King adaptation. Great movie though.

Carrie is a great film, a perfect illustration of how effective DePalma really can be when he's firing on all cylinders. Jesus, that ending.

Marisa tomea was not only nominated but won for my cousin vinny, point being the Oscars don't mean it was a great performance, Spacek wasn't bad anyways. (I said for the most part, anyhoo)

Exactly thats all it was (and full nudity) It's one of those movies that tricks you in to thinking its a great movie, because thats what you remember the most when it's over.

nobody made any comments:
What's with the pycho sound effect?
and not to mention the great plunger sound when the mother was pulled off the wall.
