7 RUGRATS GO WILD PARAMOUNT 3,041 2,074,000 682 18,933,000

10 FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY 20TH CENTURY FOX 2,001 1,203,500 601 1,203,500

Looks like 65-75 mil for Hulk. Ouch for Justin to Kelly!!! It'll probably make less than 4 mil over the weekend, unless the matinees boost it a little.

Surprised Alex and Emma isn't doing better.

I hope the Hulk sustains, but I have a feeling it will suffer a 50%+ drop next weekend and have half of its total gross this weekend.

The fact that From Justin To Kelly even made a million dollars Friday is tragic enough. Yeesh!

This is the boxofficemojo.com Friday estimates (which are a little more conservative):

1. HULK 3,660 $23,800,000
2. FINDING NEMO 3,404 $6,266,000
3. 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS 3,140 $3,298,000
4. BRUCE ALMIGHTY 3,074 $2,983,000
5. ALEX AND EMMA 2,310 $2,280,000
6. THE ITALIAN JOB 2,095 $2,190,000
7. RUGRATS GO WILD 3,041 $2,164,000
8. HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE 2,840 $1,901,000
9. DUMB AND DUMBERER: WHEN HARRY MET LLOYD 2,609 $1,697,000
10. FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY 2,001 $1,242,000
11. THE MATRIX RELOADED 1,850 $1,095,000

No matter how you look at it, Hulk nearly quadrupled its nearest competition, Finding Nemo. And Reloaded drops out of the top 10 because of From Justin To Kelly. So, I guess Hulk is pretty much guaranteed a $60m weekend.

It is setting a record. It's setting a record for debuting at such a great distance down the charts from another new release. One new release is at the top, the other is at the wayyyyyyyyy bottom.

Hey don't go out on that limb so far....it looks so stable.
All the huge movies are suffering huge 50%-60% dropoffs in week 2 with the exception of Nemo.

Correct. That is the sad state of the modern summer unfortunately. Like I said in another thread, the days of having a summer with one or two $100 million+ movies are over, now it's one every weekend and if you're not brand new, nobody cares after a week. How.....Hollywood.

I thought Hulk would do Spider-man or X2 numbers it's opening weekend. I guess I was wrong.

2 Fast 2 Furious will pass the $100 million mark on Sunday.

Nice to see The Italian Job still hanging in there. Even if it's not making that much, it's still doing better than films released last week.

Yep, the Angels will carve out at least 50% of the Hulk's take and T3 will mop it up the next weekend. Final take around $175 mil if it's lucky. Hulk smashed.

No surprise that From Justin to Kelly tanked. Apparently, Fox has had their shills on several movie-related message boards over-promoting the film and people have had enough.

2 1 Finding Nemo DISNEY/PIXAR $20,500,000 $228,000,000 4 3404
3 2 2 Fast 2 Furious UNIV $10,300,000 $102,100,000 3 3140
4 3 Bruce Almighty UNIV $10,000,000 $210,700,000 5 3074
5 7 The Italian Job PARA $7,225,000 $67,695,000 4 2095
6 4 Rugrats Go Wild! PARA $6,660,000 $23,518,000 2 3041
7 - Alex and Emma WB $6,240,000 $6,240,000 1 2310
8 5 Hollywood Homicide SONY $5,800,000 $21,433,000 2 2840
9 6 Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd NL $4,275,000 $19,993,000 2 2609
10 8 The Matrix: Reloaded WB $4,050,000 $264,500,000 6 1850
11 - From Justin to Kelly FOX $2,875,000 $2,875,000 1 2001
12 10 X2: X-Men United FOX $1,375,000 $209,652,662 8 1301

Wow, Hulk and FJ2K actually did worse than Friday's numbers suggested. Hulk is gonna have trouble reaching $150 million. FJ2K did BARELY better than Real Cancun, which is terrible considering the Idol fanbase vs the Real World fanbase.

The Hulk was very misleadingly marketed. I loved it myself, but it was not your standard summer movie blockbuster by any means. I almost think Ang Lee should've made up his own Hulk-like character and told that story, because too many people identify with the "Hulk smash!" and Lou Ferrigno stuff that this complex movie didn't work for them. All the Hulk birthday party kits and squirt guns and toys etc. didn't help, this is not a kids' movie IMHO and I imagine a lot of J6P walked away hating it... Definitely not what people expected I think.

Worldwide, HULK will make its money back, but the studio may deem it a failure because they were counting on it to be a major blockbuster. Due to that, talks of a sequel may cool down somewhat.

On the other hand, the studio may decide to push ahead with a sequel, but demand that it be more straightforward action, in which case I wouldn't expect to see Ang Lee attached to it.

Before we deem "Hulk" a failure, let's wait for next weekend to come out. I know it's not getting the best word-of-mouth or the best reviews but I think it did pretty well against one of the strongest movies of the summer in Nemo. It tripled the amount Nemo got when 2 Fast could barely beat it last week. I think Matrix will hold the summer's top spot followed by Nemo, then X2, then probably Hulk.
