Movies you are guaranteed to find in a college student dwelling (DVD and VHS)

It seems that if you were to ever walk into a college kids dorm or apartment, there always seem to be some movies you can almost count on finding in their ownership.

The ones I tend to notice a lot:

-Pulp Fiction
-Scarface (with a poster of Tony on the wall)
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail
-A Clockwork Orange (also tends to have a poster, depending on the student)
-Star Wars: The old trilogy

I'm sure there are more, but these seem to be the top five I noticed while in the higher education system.

Porn (no specific title, as long as they are male) Might have to hunt for it though.

Being a college student myself, I find it a bit curious that people have the impression that we (college students) have a particular taste in movies. Much of the stuff listed so far in this thread wouldn't be anywhere near my collection (namely the crappy comedies like American Pie). So tell me, because I'm very curious, what exactly constitutes a "college person's movie"?

Well, I'm a college person myself, and while I didn't have American Pie, I know a lot of my friends who liked the movie. I don't know exactly whether college student have particular taste in movies, since my taste on movie is significantly different than all of my friends. But from what I see, lots of student whose goes into college like to watch gross out comedy, slasher movie, fast and action packed movie, or movies that stars gorgeous girl/guy. Of course, there's some exception (like me, except that I also like to watch movie starred by gorgeous girl too), but after all, it's only a generalization. And I don't see anything wrong in that.

Oh, caiman, I think we have the same opinion about the crappy comedies like American Pie.

I get the impression when they say 'college student' in this thread, they mean 'typical white jock who happens to like movies.'

I strongly have to disagree on Monty Python, no girls own it & I assume we are talking present day & not the 1980s, b/c the average college kid has never heard of Monty Python. The movies I see in every single guys dorm I've ever been in are

Dumb & Dumber
American Pie
Road Trip
Goodfellas
Austen Powers.

Except for my dorm room ( I hate American Pie & Dumb & Dumber) the 1 year I lived in a dorm, I don't think i've EVER been in a dorm room that didn't have those 5 movies.

I'll say this much. My junior year of college, I took an interpersonal communication class which required us to write a detailed film analysis on the communication patterns within a film of our choice. I chose Taxi Driver, and ended up writing a 13 page paper. Need I even mention some of the films others chose?

Armageddon
She's All That
Tommy Boy

Just to name a few.

So if I recently graduated college and I have the typical "dorm room collection," then does it also become the typical "unemployed person's DVD collection?"

As a current college student, I'd say the 2 movies you're most likely to find are swingers and office space. Guys will usually have fight club. Goodfellas, scarface and pulp fiction are very popular (but scarface only with guys). Kevin Smith is popular. I'm a huge monty python fan and have just about every python disc available, but I don't think that a majority of people have holy grail. Lots of girls have moulin rouge and shakespeare in love. I don't know many people who have american pie.

Not sure if it applies, but there was an old joke that all film wannabes had a copy of Betty Blue, or worse, a poster of it on the wall...
