while i didn't think it was awful, i was unimpressed. to me, it seemed like the first 45 minutes were not needed. a couple of things i didn't like:
zion- the people from the real world in the first movie had to eat slop for all three meals everyday, yet they have a sophisticated computer system for landing their spacecrafts in reloaded? what's that all about? maybe they should have been focusing thier scientific efforts on some decent food.
the fight scene with all the agent smiths-- just seemed useless with very "fake" looking effects
oracle scene-- "you don't really know someone until you fight them" --- that is almost as poor a line as the "i hate sand" line from AOTC.
The whole power plant scene-- have to blow up a power plant, even though its just a program-- why can't neo just "alter" it?
Positives:
Keymaker-- very cool
Architect- very cool
Highway Fight Scene- very well done, one of the cooler scenes i've watched ever
Ending- cool way to end it (nice cliffhanger)

Why didn't I like it?
Because it was dull as hell. As follows:
The fighting... almost completely the same as number 1, BUT more expensive, more of it. But not really anything new. Thus? Nothing interesting about it. Might as well see the first.
The plot? Just wasn't good. Became too complicated. Plus, that architect unleashed such a slide of moronic nonsene using oh-fancy words. He wasn't really saying anything, except the usual trash-the-instinct-driven-human race speech. Plot was just lame, no memorable dialogue plus all of the happenings were there ONLY to serve the purpose of letting a new fight scene take place.
The sound, cinematography, music? Fine. Not above Hollywood standard. Therefore not really worth talking about.
The ending? I didn't get it. Don't call me stupid, because of course I get the blatantly obvious stuff. But no overall meaning.
This movie gave me nothing but to think of the Wachovskis as directors who weren't so talented after all. But on the other hand, their special effects guy was.
To quote Tarantino: "CGI bores me". God, he's right. This movie consisted of pure CGI, nothing interesting about it.
Plus, the love stuff bla bla...God, how flat and undeveloped. That long dancing scene? Pointless. And what an awful monologue from Morpheus.
What's up with Neo not being so powerful at all? How lame!!
Plus there were barely any funny scenes at all! Not that this in itself is a problem, but it was supposed to be. Look at that French jack off. And how ridiculous was the Persephone character.
Agent Smith fight? Long and boring. Not different from any other movie where the good guy fights 6 people. No more than 6 people were really involved in the fighting. The rest just take their turn to get hit.....
The only part I found funny was the scene with Smith catching up with the two "zionists". One escapes, the other, being converted by Smith says "Oh, God!" and Smith replies "Smith would suffice".
ONLY funny part...
Lame movie. I wouldn't even own it.

NEWS FLASH!!!
There's another Matrix movie coming out.
Might help explain some of the things you didn't get. Since the writers basically made this middle movie impossible to understand without seeing the third, I think you might want to just chill out for 5 months.
Course, if you didn't like the 1st, why pay to see the second? Why come to a Matrix forum to bash it? BTW, be sure NOT to watch the Hulk, as there is more CG in there than anything so far in the business. (animation excluded, of course)

Roll your eyes all you want. Did you know that "Neo" is an anagram for "One"? Pretty deep stuff.

Sigh . . .
*note--I get the sarcasm. I'm just sighing because if I say anything else--like the movie was a ****ing bore, someone will criticize me for falling asleep during it.
